The NCAA grew suspicious of my alma mater (Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia) because they've produced the most Division I scholarship winners of any high school football program in the country. The reason is they offer a PG year for D-I prospects who don't qualify academically, and the immersion of the military environment (boarding) and enforced study time has turned around many who went to D-1, D-IAA, and D-II schools, then some on to the NFL (Vinny Testaverde, Eddie George, Dexter Coakley, Don Majkowski to name a few).

Once the NCAA academic team visited the campus, saw the facilities, and saw the academic structure, the school passed with more than flying colors.

 

I grew up in DFW and basically dropped out of high school in the 10th grade and instead started taking college classes. I never did a GED or diploma, but my parents and I looked up how homeschooling worked, and at the time anyway there was only one requirement for home schooling -- that you teach good citizenship. If you had one class on good citizenship you could print a homeschooling diploma and it was valid. There was also a law that forbid colleges in Texas from not accepting a homeschooling diploma.

I tested into my classes via the THEA so didn't need a high school diploma to graduate college-- but if I had needed one basically all I had to do was print one out.

 

you can do this in Louisiana! If you earn 24 college credits (CLEP?) then you're automatically issued your high school diploma, but wouldn't you that mess up your athletic eligibility?
