A decent find for a first-time degree taker. More expensive, of course, than the Big 3-4, but even at ~$48,000 it's a deal compared to many on-campus programs around the US that most students will be taking.

But for many of us who already possess bachelor's (and beyond), the price tag is rather high, just for the privilege of adding Georgetown to our CVs.

I think this gets chalked up to the value being what one personally deems worth it. Some folks like to get out as cheap as possible while others may value the Georgetown name being on their resume/CV.

Maybe an extreme example but personally, I would not spend $1,000,000 to have an apartment in NYC, but others would. For me, you could not pay me to live there. My home sitting on 10 acres in the boondocks that I live in though…priceless. Whereas others could not be paid to live where I do.

Value is certainly in the eye of the beholder. :)

Georgetown's School of Continuing Studies has historically been very friendly to CLEP, so there's the possibility that as the successor to their campus-based BLS that this program too allows for half the degree to be transferred in as CLEP. For sure, the site says that 64 credits can be transferred in "including military training".

Right on. To each their own, of course!

But many of our esteemed members here already have a BA, MA, and possibly even a PhD, sometimes from well-known universities. Just for the sake of argument, would there be much in the way of value add to get a BLS years later, even if from Georgetown?

A valuable option for someone with AS degree to complete final 2 years and earn Bachelors degree from name recognized university.
    Or transfer credit etc.

Georgetown is a great brand name... 12 years ago, I earned my Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Technology Management on campus. Although it came from the School of Continuing Studies; but, I am still using Georgetown's email as my personal email. Many people saw my email and asked if I teach at Georgetown or attended school there.

I would! I'd love to live there --- and you wouldn't even have to pay me, Josh! :)

I think it depends on what you see as value. Do you chalk up ROI as monetary only or do you see ROI as monetary and personal gratification? Maybe someone earning the degree will not gain much in compensation gain but they may feel more accomplished personally, and if so, I’d say it was worth it.

Obviously, I’d never recommend putting your financial health at stake for a degree, just as a disclaimer.

Book yourself a plane ticket! I’ll pick you up at DFW or Will Rogers. :)
