That sounds like fun, do they have it every year?

Until this post I rated you as one of the most informed and intelligent posters on this forum. I honestly would of expected more from you. Disappointing, very disappointing.

    "Cajon"="box" where you are?

Interesting; here in NM the word is "caja". I've never heard "cajon" (which means nothing; we're just as likely to say "carton" or even "box".) There's a LOT of "Spanglish" here.

    Por ejemplo:

Claro, "cajones" son "cajones" pero les llamamos "juevos". Y los Tejanos les llaman "calf fries" and serve them with juevos y frijoles for breakfast!

The eggs are in a box in Peru. Texan llamas eat beans and fries for breakfast. Got it.

That suggests another public transit problem around here.

I live in San Mateo County. So if I was gonna take the bus to SJ, I would have to take a Samtrans bus down El Camino to Stanford shopping center. Then I would have to switch systems and wait for the VTA's 22 Eastridge to show up. That wonder would stop at every stoplight and bus stop for the next 15 miles or so into downtown SJ. The 20 mile trip would take maybe three hours one way, counting the time spent waiting for buses and making connections between bus systems. That's six hours a day commuting, round-trip.

Taking the bus just isn't practical. So no matter how high the price of gas goes, it's not gonna pry commuters out of their cars.

    From the FreeLang dictionary:

cajón: drawer, locker, big box, case, chest, coffer

    cajón (S-Am): coffin

    cojones: balls (sl), testicles

cojones!: interjection denoting surprise, annoyance, oh!

cojonear (slang): f___ around, muck about, piss about, goof off

Lotta cojonearin' goin' on around here.

    Rip-off

I can't believe my Cavalier cost me $32 to fill up and I got gas before it went up today!

    What a rip-off!

Why, of course, it's tasteless. If they're dying for female genitalia, shouldn't they be after the experienced women?

I live in Fremont and work near PARC. I would have to ride my bike to Paseo and Decoto, take a Dumbarton Express on a 1.5 hour ride to the top of the hill (as they weave in and out past the various HP campuses until they drop me off in front of Varian/SAP). I would do it but being an engineer, I am often forced to work 14 hour days. No busses after 7 or 8 pm and I am NOT riding a bike through East PA after dark. (I have a thing about dodging bullets).

The problem with the BA is that our "smart" politicians (the former mayor of Brisbane works here - that is a story in itself) are very short sided. They built up a lot of freeways (build a lane, fill a lane) - but the transportation system is not contiguous. If you want to get to SJ from the Tri-Valley, you have to take BART to Fremont, hop on a Bus to either the Centerville station and take the train to the Valley or take a bus to central SJ and hop on the VTA. I know a lady who does that everyday. Takes her about 4.5 hours a day to commute.

As to my underlying point, I am unapologetic.

As to my particular way of expressing it which has so disappointed you, you are absolutely and painfully correct. It was, indeed, over the top. I knew it as I was doing it, and I was in the sort of mood that allowed me to fight the urge to delete the post before the 10-minute edit/delete time-out; then I convinced myself that it wasn't that bad. But it was.

From my heart, I apologize. I hope your stock in me returns to its previous level soon.

    Gregg,

It takes character to apologise in the manner you have.

    I fully accept your apology.

    Thanks and regards,

Re: Re: Bracing for the Debate on Tasteless Humor?

Nah! Don't hope for me to wash out! Just hope, if I'm ever on the verge of completing my grad degree wish list as it exists at any given point in time, that a need for a new grad degree arises in order to keep me around for a few more years.

    Re: $3 by Labor Day!

It's $3.01 for premium here in Southern California. I heard prices may eventually go up to $5.00 It's not looking good for Baby Bush. Oh well, I certainly won't cry for him. He, he he!

    Have a good weekend Laser200!
