Kinda on the same note. Who is this S. Levin? I asked him on Online-College.info to provide his educational background. It doesnt make sense to attack someone's educational accomplishments( In this case, Rich Douglas) without providing your own. This seems logical to me. I stated, as I have before, that I dont always agree with Rich, but I will defend his right to say and think it. Rich earned his Phd from Union and that is still one up on me...but not for long...lol. His dissertation is on Non-traditional education. When one produces an dissertation, one then is considered an expert in that field. Another one on me. I respect him for that. I also informed Mr Levin that it is normal for doctoral committee members to be friends with the grad student. All of us doctoral students remember that we have to interview committee members to make the fit within our research. You dont want a 18 th century Chinese Historian on your committee if you are an American Historian. He attacked me with deplorable language and told me that no one gives a "poop" ( this is not what he said) about my opinion and that Rich can take up for himself.

Degree mill shills make great hay over the fact that John and I have known each other for a long time, implying that I put a friend on my committee, and further claiming a conflict of interest. That's bunk.

John and I didn't know each other prior to his acceptance of my invitation to join my Union committee. That was in 1986. In fact, I didn't know any of my committee members prior to asking them to serve.

Union has strict rules about prior relationships, as well as a process for reviewing them. Learners also have to reveal any prior relationships between committee members themselves.

So what's this much-touted reference of Dr Bear's in 2000 to "my friend of 20 years Rich Douglas"? How did 14 years become 20?

Why does it matter if a Ph.D. advisor is a friend of the candidate? I can see why the external examiner shouldn't be a friend of the candidate, but...

II am forming my committee right now, and the first person I asked was a friend. Because he is probably the #1 expert in the general field I plan to study (but in a slightly different area). I also expect him to be the hardest to please, because he knows the most about my topic, and his very definite opinions.

I agree. I would expect nothing but the toughest from my close advisors. I just squashed a shiller online at Online-College.Info. He was going on about Rich and making hurtful comments about just everyone. He then started on Gus....and making comparisons to me . The comment was ...why dont you show your educational background. I most happily agreed to show them and give the web addresses to get to them. I think that Mr Lavin is TOAST. I was just making a comment about his not showing his degrees and goes off on a tagent that will not produce what he expects. I wished that he could show respect that we do here. I mean "most" of the time. I respect all who have attained thier degrees and the research it took to get there. I can only speak for myself on how hard it is to get there. My hat is off to Rich, Bruce, Dennis and the countless others that have sucrificed to attain thier goals. You will not catch me attacking you in a mean sprited way. It doesnt do anyone any good to be hurtful.

    S. Laven appears to be the name used on online-college.info by the AED troll (currently using the alias “Douglas the Clown”). His agenda, writing style, post content, and modus operandi echo those of James Crabb, who also uses a different alias to post on several different forums.

The best way to deal with him, as AED seems to have learned, is to simply ignore him.

However, the AED troll (Roy Tumak, Lal Wasdev, Dan Costello, MIGS Greenwich, Douglas the Clown, etc.) is a Canadian posting from British Columbia, who uses the Commonwealth spelling "cheque", and types two spaces between sentences.

James Crabb (kf5k, toughnut, 1jms7, james1, Jay2) is an American who uses the US spelling "check" and types one space between sentences.

    Wow!

Very nice powers of observation! Wow!

That's a lot more subtle than correlated usage of "tabloid" by the mysterious Daniel Taylor, MD, PhD, Prez, American Coastline and the not-so mysterious asbestos-abater, 5Dr. Richard J. Hoyer. (I think one of his doctoral degrees has fallen off.)

    Kind of makes me proud.

    Two spaces - yes I do - that's Canadian?

"Markie Bear" "Suck Up and Brown Noser!"

    See http://www.online-college.info/article1749.html

I had to look up "brownnoser":
I like the delicate phrasing of the etymology.

For the uninitiated, that poster was the one and only "k5fk" here and "James" on CollegeHints. Nice guy, huh?

As Dennis Ruhl would say, "That's a confession."

The correct quote is "Is that a confession?"

    Dennis,

What's the latest on CCU and DETC? Will their tuition raise if they become accredited or do you know at this juncture?

    Thanks!

Haven't heard anything good, bad or indifferent. Waiting for early June like everyone else. Hopefully they get approval and not a rejection or a deferral.

My guess is that the program cost will go up with accreditation but then so will enrollment. I wouldn't be surprised to see the MBA go to $4,975 from $3,975.

If someone is really interested they could gamble $100 and apply in May and be locked in for the program.

Hey Mark (to return this thread to its topic): Which is worse, Crabb's crap or pseudopsychological labeling combined with racial slurs? Looks like about a dead heat to me. Since you are able to post on-topic, just wondered what you think.

P.S. If you're Jewish, happy Passover, day 2.

Janko, I'm afraid your references are often too subtle for me. You seem to have some major issue with Jimmy Clifton, so perhaps you're referring to him? I rather like Jimmy Clifton. But I don't read everything he posts, so I'm afraid I've missed all the wrongdoing you've accused him of.

Thanks for the Pesach wish. I'm an atheist, but do engage in some rituals reflecting my Jewish heritage.
