The ignore list is a wonderful thing. All of Neuhaus' long-winded posts about nothing are automatically collapsed. Type away. I'm not going to see anything.

Well, I'm going to put all of you on my ignore list. Each and every one of you. In fact, I'm putting the entire forum on my ignore list.

Okay, no, I'm not. This shit is waaaaaaay too funny. It's been years since porn has been discussed so heavily on DI.

But seriously, a note to sanantone: Neuhaus is blitzing you in this thread. If you're going to be snarky (which seems to have become a popular word around here), (1) make your slicing-and-dicing funny, (2) don't take it so seriously, and (3) zing 'em like a Ph.D.

This is a forum, not a journal article. Unlike Neuhaus, I don't have time to write a mini-thesis every other day on a non-professional forum. The person who is taking this way too seriously is the one who is literally writing pages on something that will ultimately make no difference. Fortunately, I rarely have to come across people like Neuhaus in real life, but Texans are known for being friendlier than those in the Northeast. Neuhaus certainly doesn't help the stereotype of HR people being unpleasant and incompetent, wannabe pop psychologists. A lot of people here think they're funny when they really aren't. Or, maybe it has something to do with me not being a baby boomer. Ironically, my PhD program isn't filled with man-children, and the students happen to be younger, on average.

Whoa . . . Somebody please give sanantone a chill pill. She's calling people more names than Donald Trump does.

Awkward indeed. Are there rules for that sort of encounter? Higher tips or no tips?

I don't understand why this is awkward. He went there to see tits, tits are attached to women, and sometimes women say things. Besides, in American society being a stripper carries more stigma than going to a strip club, so if it wasn't weird for her, why would it have been weird for him?

Meh. It's really no different from how my character was attacked just because someone didn't like my thread. Since this forum has poor moderation, I'm going to defend myself. I can assure you, though, that you have "no chill" (it's a modern slang phrase for those who aren't up on it).

Based on how Edo posted the comment it sounds like it was awkward because of the personal connection. Most people live with certain expectations for their life. You don't expect to see certain things in certain locations and when you do you feel "awkward". I venture to guess that the patron worked very closely with his former classmate and was naturally surprised and felt awkward that someone he interacted with on regular basis when she was full dressed was now, not fully dressed. So to take this a step further if you went into a strip club (which is totally fine with me for you to do) and your Aunt or Niece were working there would you feel awkward? Lol.

This is a funny post. Heaven forbid a discussion board posting evolves as a conversation might naturally. I suggest the Admins invoke some advanced natural language processing software to detect any slight deviation from the original post. That sure sounds like a great way to make DL perfect.

Yes. But then again, my aunt is 78 and my niece is 10.

If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it calling you out on your BS is it still there calling you out on your BS?

    Now we may never know.

When I was in the Navy there was a situation involving a female Lieutenant (O-2 or O-3, I don't remember) who was working part-time at Hooters. The Navy typically doesn't care if you want to wait tables at such a place, at least they didn't seem to care in the majority of the cases that came up, unless someone was misusing their uniform. She only landed on the radar because she was working at a Hooters near a Naval base. When a group of sailors got a bit fresh she whipped out her military ID and made them call her "ma'am" for the rest of the night.

The issue was mainly that it was a bar frequented by enlisted sailors and she couldn't go a night without identifying herself as an officer and trying to play in both worlds simultaneously. They made her quit Hooters and she was pretty bummed because she liked the extra cash.

When it comes up to the aunt or daughter type of test I think cases like this show there is some nuance. I hope my daughter is never in the position to where she needs to strip, work at a hooters or make porn just to get by. but if she doesn't HAVE to do it to get by and does it because she wants to? Well, different issue, I'd say.

If someone from my MBA cohort, someone whom I'd previously known for her insight in mergers and acquisitions or ability to factor ratios off a balance sheet was suddenly standing there in front of me casually chatting it up with her boobs RIGHT THERE--BOOM!--I'd have looked for a hole to curl up into. That's cringeworthy movie sort of awkward, like a situation in which Steve Carrell would find himself.

For you, maybe. I'm with Steve F. on this. Doesn't strike me as the least bit awkward. Perhaps it's partly because years ago, I knew a lot of dancers (as they prefer being called - or at least did then) and knew some of them outside their work - even dated one or two, back in the day. (I'm 73 now and dating is pretty much a thing of the past -- but who knows?)

My two cents - there's more to anyone - male or female - than what they do for a living. Exotic dancing is legal and quite well-paid - and where is there any cause for embarrassment?

Where's the fist bump emoji? :slap: I guess this will work.

FT, glad to see someone agrees with me.

Few men get embarrassed by looking at boobs. More men get embarrassed when others see them looking at boobs. Not saying that's the case here. Not at all. I respect everybody's opinion - but I'll keep my own.

Boobs and Tits, two words I never thought I'd read or write (for that matter) on a forum discussing Higher Education. Whodathunk?
