There appears to be a shift taking place. Several polls in the last few days have Biden gradually moving ahead of Trump. Might not mean anything yet but the spreads are growing. Quinnipiac is outside the margin of error. About what I would expect as people start paying attention.

I get the desire to be hopeful, but there's little point to taking polls seriously before the conventions. Or the debates, assuming there are any this time around.

True generally but this cycle maybe not? The Trumpster Fire is getting an awful lot of press coverage apart from his campaign. Too, both Trump and Biden have near 100% name recognition.

    But yeah. Too early.

    I'm guessing not.

Lots of people think Trump refuses to participate in the RNC debates because he doesn't have to. But he's known for doing things he doesn't have to. I think it's because he'd get hurt in them. I think that even if he's behind in the polls, he won't debate Biden for the same reason.

    Our guesses are well aligned.

A debate with a mentally unstable and increasingly delusional Donald Trump wouldn't be either useful or entertaining. The man seems to be falling apart before our eyes.

The only argument I could make with this is an implication that he hasn't been falling apart his whole adult life. It does seem to be accelerating though doesn't it? Probably due to the added pressure of four indictments and 91 felony charges and his NY business apparently being dismantled. Even a perfectly sane and stable person would likely have issues with that kind of pressure. I hasten to add though that he brought it all onto himself so I have no sympathy.

Prosecutors et al. need to get at least some of those criminal matters done-and-dusted before November. Call it risk management.

I saw a news piece the other day where they were interviewing MAGA supporters about this idea of having a dictator take over our government. It seemed that a fairly common reaction was that "unfortunately our country needed a dictator right now". It's very scary how much control Trump has over the MAGA crowd. Those folks are a huge risk to our democracy. We need all the risk management that we can get.

The idea that "the country needs a dictator right now" is itself the biggest Trump lie of all. There is no real crisis except of the Republicans' own manufacture.

I keep wondering. The headlines say Trump’s campaign funds are dwindling because of his huge legal costs. Well, first, since when has Donald Trump paid a lawyer? Or anyone else? The man is a grifter at all times and in all places. Second, if campaign donations are paying Trump's legal fees, he should have to pay income tax of that money. Does he?

Without seeing the article you're referencing, it's tough to know what that really means. Does it mean that all these judgments mean that he can't afford to self-fund a campaign? Does it mean that donors have dried up? Or does it mean that he's using his campaign fund as a personal slush fund? I doubt that last one, honestly.

As for Trump's propensity to dine and dash, I can't imagine that any lawyer would take him on without a huge retainer at this point.

Oh well maybe that’s why he gets such weird lawyers?

It is unbelievable to me that good Americans believe this nonsense that we need a dictator. Since it's obvious that many MAGA fans believe this I am left with the sad conclusion that they are not good Americans. Were they not taught about how democracy works in junior high school? Or are they just blinded by their love of Trump. My guess is that it's some combination of those two things.

MAGA doesn't just prefer a dictator. Remember when they called Obama a dictator?

No, they want THEIR dictator, because they're confident he'll do right by them (and smite their enemies).

Not that they can define "right".

On the fourth day of Christmas, Trump woke up to see:

    • White supremacy, because equality is threatening
    • Destroy the system, because it doesn't work for them anymore
    • Own the libs, because hating tastes good
