Perhaps at this time it's appropriate to ask our op unesco about his connection to this document. It's clear that the only reason you're on this site is to shill this report so it's not much of a leap to assume that you're not just an interested observer, but somehow connected to the document's data compilation. editing, sales?

Because anything can be self-published through Amazon.

Look, you may be used to dealing with unsophisticated people, the world is surely full of them. But on this forum there will be no victory for you.

I see what you're saying. The only thing American about SMC is that most of its programs are accredited by AACSB. That seems to me to be a very misleading reason to refer to it as American, since it's just an international accreditor that happens to be in the U.S.

ACBSP. If it were AACSB, all else unchanged, that'd be remarkable. An AACSB Doctorate in 3 years and for around $10K.

Still, this is interesting. Placing in that database technically makes SMC a GAAP degree provider. This is a rather weak form of GAAP, and does not remove all caveats to recognition, but it can help a degree holder in situations where he can back up school's legitimacy by pointing to the book. It is an interesting fringe case, kind of like IUGS, fun to discuss. My take: SMC seem more credible than IUGS; both are not quite "RA-equivalent" but can function as such on case-by-case basis; one can work better than other on, again, case-by case.

    Daniel Odin own trademarks:

    https://trademarks.justia.com/owners/odin-daniel-esteban-3433888/

UNESCO UNIÓN NACIONAL DE EDUCACIÓN SUPERIOR CONTINUA Trademark of Odin Daniel Esteban. Serial Number: 87272401 :: Trademarkia Trademarks

The English translation of Unión Nacional de Educación Superior Continua, according to one of the documents, is National Union of Continuous Higher Education. So I guess the appropriate English acronym is NUCHE.

I'm also under the impression that Dr Odin is the Dean of Universidad Empresarial de Costa Rica's distance education programmes.

So, (hypothetically, of course) it's conceivable that a school could produce an edited/modified version of the real UNESCO book, put it out there as a free download, advertise it as a legitimate guide to legitimate schools, and then use it to "prove" the legitimacy of a certain un-wonderful school(s). Hypothetically. Because no one would ever do that in reality. No, I'm sure of that.:tired:

Ugh, yes, thanks. I knew that, just was momentarily stupid.

Does it? Do any real evaluators actually use that document (the real one, I mean) and take it as gospel?

    Conceivable:tongue:
In this case, it looks like the book was created by downloading or screen grabbing an online database. I did not bother to check whether this document contains modified listing for UNEM or a related school out of Panama the author seems to run. This would provide motivation for this seemingly futile effort.

Someone somewhere might. One could use the listing to bolster argument that this is an American school. I bet many students there are neither from US nor Switzerland.

You make a compelling case. Let me help you out. If you transfer $1239759234 into my bank account, I will use the money to purchase thousands of copies of the text, exploding the page rank to help future sales. I will only keep a copy of the document as my fee!

Don't be alarmed that my bank account is located in Abuja.

That fake International Handbook of Universities is gone. However, the same "author" already has a replacement with the title "UNESCO-WHEUR World Higher Education University Rankings 2018: UNESCO Top 1000 World University Ranking". (also sold on Amazon)

Not surprised. This is basically Brandolini's Law in action:

Both are available for free download on the fake Unesco website. Dr Odin's own school, Colegio del Espiritu Santo in Uruguay - which is not in the real handbook - is number 1000 in the world, it seems.

As one might say in Uruguay - ¡Ay, qué maravilloso! (Oh, how wonderful!)

As I might say, in my first-ever crack at Google-Swedish: Underverk kommer aldrig att upphöra! (Wonders will never cease!)

Good luck, Dr. Odin. And watch out for the Hammer of Thor!
