Well I am new to this. I am planning to do PHD (IT or computing ) and looking for distance learning. I know that unisa (http://www.unisa.ac.za/qualificationsMD/ ) and Open University Malaysia (http://www.oum.edu.my/v3/index.php/news/article/view/17/110) offer what i need .I would like if anyone have any suggestions
If people ask you specific questions to help you find the right institution, will you come back to answer them?
sorry, i don't understand the post. You want us to suggest more places where they have a PhD in IT program ? Or you want us to suggest which Uni (UNISA or OUM) you should go to ?
Since a PhD is a research oriented degree I suggest that the op go to our IT/CS forum and read a few hundred threads, at which point his thread will likely be answered. IT and Computer-Related Degrees
well i was looking for similar courses to those ..I am currently living in Seychelles and working ...so i can not go for a course abroad...thats why i was looking for a distance learning PHD
If you do not intend to go to the school on occasion, please ensure you negotiate this in no uncertain terms. It is often a surprise to students when they find out their advisor expects them to come to the campus on occasion, regardless of what the literature about the program might indicate. Second, you will find it difficult to locate a program that allows you to do the viva voce from a distance. Again, it can be done, but you'd better ensure that's arranged ahead of time. Finally, by excluding the opportunity to do residencies, you miss out on a great deal of learning, camaraderie, and support from your fellow learners. My PhD had required residencies. My other doctorate had optional ones, many of which I attended. I could not have completed either program without those experiences. Doctoral study is a lonely thing; beware of making it even more so.
