I've always thought students at online schools could play against each other in things like Chess and Go. But network-capable video games, sure, those too.
Let's do it, Steve! I coach high school football in Texas, so I can be the coach. We will have to figure out eligibility issues and such.
UoP Socks Update If you were not fortunate enough to get a complementary pair of University of Phoenix red socks, you can now order a pair here, but only if you have small or medium sized feet. The large/extra-large socks have sold out again, and UoP does not expect to get more until late April. No, this is not an April Fool's post. The red UoP socks really are available for those with small/medium feet.
I don't know what size I got. I didn't pay that much attention. My wife ended up getting her socks about 2 weeks later. I don't know what size her socks were either... -Matt
Nikki Sandoval, UoP's Executive Director of Alumni Relations, handles frequently-asked questions in her "Ask Nikki" column for Phoenix Focus, an alumni magazine. It appears that the socks are now a primary topic of concern among UoP's 700,000+ alumni, based on the February 2013 and March 2013 monthly issues.
SOCKS?! I should have gone to University of Phoenix. I used to be a student at Excelsior College and all I got was a degree.
No socks but Liberty gave out red 40th year anniversary blankets a couple years back and sent me an alumni keychain for updating my contact information.
Several schools have sent me stuff over the years. I have an umbrella from one school, a sleeve of golf balls from another, a wind-breaker, several tumblers, a dayplanner... One (Christian) school sent me a devotional book. I sold it on Amazon.com the same day I received it.
Charter Oak sent me a car decal once upon a time. GW never sent stuff, but I've picked up free swag on campus at various events, including pretty nice "GW Alumni Weekend" Risky Business-style sunglasses (probably knockoffs rather than real Wayfarers, but still nice).
High-Performance University of Phoenix Socks are Available Again The red socks -- all sizes -- are back in stock. In fact, they are now the featured item on the front page of the UoP Student Store. According to UoP, these are true "performance socks", with all of the following advertised features: - moisture-wicking fibers - Stretch-to-Fit™ sizing system - Easy-Fit™ cuff - Superior softness helps eliminate blisters - Mesh upper for supreme air flow - Double-stitched heel and toe for strength and durability - Packaged in a custom designed gift box Clearly UoP wants you to ask yourself the following question: do your university's socks perform up to UoP standards ?
No, but the UoP Student Store does offer bottles of official "lucky red" University of Phoenix hand sanitizer. Possibly this is useful for business meetings where you might have to shake hands with individuals who are not members of the UoP alumni community (you can readily identify these losers by their ugly low-performance socks). Comes with a handy clip so it is readily accessible at all times.
