Anaheim University is now on Show Cause.

Wright Graduate University for the Realization of Human Potential will teach out through Maharishi International University. (An RA school teaching out a closed NA is novel.) Huntington University of Health Sciences will teach out through American College of Healthcare Sciences. (Both DEAC.)

Good to see Newlane get NA!

 

Indeed. I was hoping. That makes Newlane the second University to start with ASIC and go on to recognized US Accreditation. Nexford U., the first, got there a while ago, also with DEAC. Perhaps the third might be Charisma University, Turks and Caicos. That school presently has Candidate status with TRACS. Congratulations to all.

 

Newlane? That's slightly wrong. Associate's for $1500, Bachelor's for $2,500. No Master's. But yeah - still amazing. My take: it's VERY refreshing to see an inexpensive, properly accredited school offering degrees other than (yawn) business and IT. Rare, these days. Too rare.

 

The master's for $2500 is the sole program from the University of Pasadena, an MA in Education.

 

Some exceptions. ACICS died - deservedly and a couple of others that major in vocational areas have had their troubles and are on a shortened leash. TRACS look like they're full steam ahead. Last time up, they were fully re-authorized for the maximum term - 5 years. They've found one niche, restoring recognized accreditation to (I think) seven HBCUs so far, that had lost it, mainly for not being able to meet and maintain the financial standing requirements of their former accreditors.

They've also gone offshore. Charisma University Turks and Caicos, has Candidate status with TRACS.

Not QUITE a $2500 bachelor's as I thought. That WAS I believe, a pre-accreditation price for a bachelor's starting from scratch. I dug back through the old Newlane thread. Certainly an amazing price today, anyway.. I like the degree and I like the price. I wish Newlane every success.

 

Sadly, their site won't load for me at all. Not a good start for them.

 

Chrome Browser (and most others, I think) don't display the site and flash a warning about the certificate. On mine (Chrome) there's a choice on the notice - "advanced settings." I go there and press "proceed anyway -unsafe" if I feel lucky. And in I go...

 

Holy Snakes and Ladders! I'm 80 - all these ladders are risky, for me. Say, can I earn a Bachelor of Laddering somewhere? Preferably without the climbing option.

 

The more I think about it, the more sense Newlane makes. It could be life-changing. Their tuition works out to $25 a credit, with recognized accreditation. Most of the big schools charge 10 to 20 times that - or more.

Newlane = no student loans. That means you save enough money with a Newlane degree to get yourself a brand-new car, or a thick down payment on a house, or even start a well-financed business that could make you a good living. Enough of you will put those giant loan hyenas out of business.

The alternative - pay loans till you're 80-odd then die. We hear that all the time, here at DI. A big, sucking mortgage with NO HOUSE. There's a new paradigm here. People will DO this...
