  1. Hi everyone

    Any thoughts?

The Doctor of Business Administration program is offered in a fully online format by Walsh College in collaboration with Great Lakes Executive Learning. The program provides students with a transformative journey into intelligent systems and data-driven decision-making. By blending rigorous academic teachings with real-world applications, the program equips graduates with the ability to understand AIML and navigate its practical complexities in the business world.

If, and only if, that really covers all of the tuition not just for the initial certificate from Great Lake but also the degree program through Walsh, then it sounds like a great deal.

Not likely. The DBA at Walsh is $1038 per credit. 60 credits are required to earn the degree. That's 5 times what this company is quoting. Something is amiss.

In the brochure, there is no tuition statement, but there is this odd (to me) statement. Maybe someone else will know what this means:

    Program Fee*
    Total: INR 8,74,000 + GST

I have no idea what any of that means.

I am put off by these two statements on the "Great Learning" page (the first link, the one that also quotes the fees at $12.8K):

    • Demonstrate mastery and earn the title of 'Dr.'
    • Get recognised as a specialist in your field with a 'Dr.' title
    It's creepy.

    There's also this line:

DBA cum Masters Dual Degrees from Walsh College & PG certificate from Great Lakes

That sounds like a master's, a DBA, and a PG certificate. I think your concern that the $12.8K is for just the certificate is a good one.

  4. Yes... it's all very suspicious and shady. Not to mention that the course is not listed on their page... it only appears through a Google search.

On the other hand, I received contact from them by email, which was always very evasive...

I will question them about the cost

INR means Indian rupees and GST means Goods and Services Tax in India. India uses commas in different places for numbers than in the US. That's 874,000 rupees, or around $1k USD + tax.

Actually, the way they operate is like UpGrad's DBA program. Marketing, tech support, administration, and half of the teaching faculty are done by Greatlake Learning, followed by several faculty from Walsh College. Once you complete the program, you get the degree from Walsh College. You will not get the same supports with the Walsh College's actual students.

  8. Yes, that is for sure.

I have contacted GreatLearning. They did not convince me, but they keep telling me that the price tag is right: 12K USD for the whole program

And that might even be true if you live in India, however per the Walsh website, anyone in the US will pay 1,038 per hour

Hmm, do they have other pricing for other countries? I wonder how possible it is to hack this for cheaper...

  11. As far as I know, the price is the same for all non-USA residents

    If that's so:

    1. Get a digital nomad visa somewhere (since it doesn't mean you actually have to move there).
    2. Apply to this program.
    3. Profit!

Hmm, when I finish my BAS/MAOL, I'll have to investigate this one further...
It's pretty much exactly what I want! And for under $13K USD if you can get it...
From reading it further, it's PG + Masters + PhD, a triple combo!

  14. Oh, and it is a DBA, not a PHD. It is a terminal degree, but much more business-oriented than academic-oriented.

Slightly off topic, but is the BAS and MAOL actually a combined program at UMPI, or just a logical progression?

It's not a combined program, it's a logical progression... It's like a Bachelors to Masters option as 3 classes from the Bachelors can be re-used for the Masters, dropping the 12 required classes to 9. It actually saves energy, money, time doing it that way. For example, if I can finish the BAS in 1 session, it'll be $1500 as I am in the Summer 2 Session - price is bumping up to $1700/session in Fall. The MAOL is going to be $2350/session (up from $2150). I can probably finish the MAOL in one session as well...

Does that mean UMPI is "all your can eat" per session?

How closely does a session correspond with a semester?

Yes, UMPI is 'all you can eat' per session, two classes at a time, there have been a few members who were able to complete the degree in 1 session of 8 weeks. A semester is two sessions, with proper time commitment & management, it should be possible for people to put aside enough time to effectively and efficiently complete the program. I am hoping the MAOL would yield similar results...

Those members having previously completed around 90 transferable semester hours elsewhere, to be clear.
