I was in the Canadian Mobile Command Reserve. And I bet you have no idea what I am talking about. Well maybe North might.

Currently Active Duty Navy....will be 18 years in August. I'm a Recruiting Supervisor looking forward to retirement (from the Navy anyway) in two years. That's the reason my education is on the fast track now.

    Hi North,

I recently celebrated 20 years of Navy active duty.

Besides being April Fool's day, today is also the birthday of the United States Navy Chief Petty Officer.

"On April 1, 1893, two important steps were taken. First, the grade of Chief Petty Officer was established; secondly, most enlisted men received a pay raise."

Charles, thanks to you, I just shocked and amazed my wife with the CPO tidbit. Mrs. Lloyd, who served in the Navy from 1980 to 2000, and retired as a HMC (SW), did not know this. So we'll see if I earned valuable marriage points, or anything.

I enlisted in the Air Force in 1977. I left in 1980 to enter the AF Reserve for two years. Selected for Officer Training School (after becoming a staff sergeant), I was commissioned in 1983. I retired as a captain in 1996 (at age 36) and have been collecting retirement pay ever since.

Were you called meatheads or is that just a Canadian thing. I don't think I ever actually heard the term MP used. Just wondering.

MPs didn't hand out speeding tickets, we got reported to our commanding officer, who as a reserve colonel, didn't take much interest.

U.S. Army 1987-1991, got out as a Sergeant.

Korean Interrogator/Linguist, also did cross-training, investigative and undercover work with the Criminal Investigation Division (Ft. Ord, CA).

Thought many, many times about going back in (until I got too old!).

Best thing I ever did in my life!

I am probably the youngest one in this thread. Enlisted in the Navy immediately after graduating high school in 1995. Served six years active duty and achieved the rank of ET2 (SW/AW). Have been in the reserves since 2001, and made E6 Feb 2003. Hopefully, by earning my BBA and MBA will strengthen my application for the upcoming OCS selection.
