Columnist Herb Caen used to award the "Nikita" for text that appeared to have been badly translated from the Ukrainian. Time to bring it back. Here's a sample of the text from the web page for the Accrediting Commission of International Colleges and Universities, accreditor of the non-wonderful Oneida University:

"Dissension must be in composing and give subtle elements, with proper supporting documentation if conceivable, of how a specific standard, strategy or system is constantly or was maltreated by an authorize accreditation program. The complainant’s name and the substance of the objection might remain private, unless legitimate prerequisites order divulgence or the complainant overall commissions exposure."

ACICU also accredits Sheffield State University, Charleston State University, University of Denton, aka Denton University, Menard State University and something called Oyster Harbor Queens University. OHQ University's website seems to have been got at by some Chinese hacker and is probably not safe to visit.

It looks like a straight google translation with not even the slightest attempt to clean it up. Maybe they assume that their prospective "students" won't know the difference.

Or that they won't care, as long as they get their fake degrees promptly. Or, perhaps, the "University" site-makers don't KNOW any better. The "accreditor" ACICU has exactly the same kind of English(?) on its pages as well.
    "Cleanup in aisles 1, 4, 6, 9, 11, 15, 21 through 32, 33, 37 and 41!"

ACICU has um..."borrowed" much from DEAC, including stating its origin: The National Home Study Council (1926-1942). ACICU site is privacy-protected by an outfit in Panama, so I can't tell origin, owners etc. At least, not today...

I forgot to mention Hampden State University.

The websites of this Oneida community are often hosted on US servers, registered through enom.com, and giving an address in Panama.

Missed the edit deadline, so here goes. In an Axact-like fashion, there's a website called accrediteduniversities dot info where there's information about the most important schools, in this case Oneida, Sheffield State and Denton. Oneida claims to have been around since 1981 but its website was created in January 2014.

I was shocked to find that Oneida, Sheffield State and Denton are all reportedly in the same stratospheric price-bracket as HARVARD: $57-59,000 /yr. It would have been hard to keep a straight face, seeing these three schools on the same list as Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, Yale et al. on "accrediteduniversities-dot-info!" Fortunately, I was among friends in a College library and didn't need to maintain a poker-face. No intelligent life whatsoever on that "info" page, but I'll bet the folks who run Denton, Oneida and Sheffield State are making TONS of money anyway!

I don't really have enough evidence to say that Oneida et al are members of the Axact consortium but my guess is they use similar methods. "You have qualified for a scholarship and all you have to pay is the administrative fee of USD 2,400."

Then there will be requests for additional fees, for example for "legalization" of the degree, often accompanied by threats.

Let's add Berkshire State University to the list, www dot berkshirestateuniversity dot com.

A major slice of Berkshire State's blurb is lifted verbatim from the pages of King's College, University of London. Well, at least they steal from good sources.

Wilson High School, www dot accreditedwilsonhighschool dot org is also accredited by ACICU. Fake high schools, now that's typical Axact stuff. If an essay or term paper site or two should show up as well then this could indicate there's a connection. But I don't know, maybe it's the guy who ran Suffield and Redding who's back in action.

I hope not. That would be James Enowitch - who pleaded guilty and was sentenced around 3 years ago re: Suffield, Redding, Bryson, Glendale etc. etc. I've been unable to find details of his sentencing, so I don't know whether he is still incarcerated or not. Either way - he's probably being watched by authorities, so a return to that "industry" seems risky - and therefore less than likely.

Then again, perhaps nothing should surprise me. After the late Thomas James Kirk II a.k.a McPherson was convicted re: the bogus LaSalle University (Mandeville LA), University of San Gabriel Valley and Bienville University, his wife opened Edison University, which operated from a rented mailbox in Honolulu... Oh yes, there's also Kenneth Shong, who created and ran the bogus "Carlingford University" from his cell, while imprisoned in Wisconsin.

Sorry - attributed that last quote to Kizmet - it should have been Steve Foerster. My apologies to Steve, Kizmet and anybody else who noticed.
