I am interested in completing a business certificate program. My undergrad is criminal justice so I have no accounting or finance courses. I would like a program that is both affordable and that covers basic accounting and business fundamentals. I want to eventually go into business for myself and figure I can't go wrong with some basic business knowledge. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
If you scroll down a bit you'll find a thread entitled "U Buffalo Mini MBA." You may find it helpful.
One of my alma maters (UMass-Lowell) offers a graduate certificate in Business Foundations, which can be transferred to their AACSB-accredited MBA program. Not what I'd call cheap, but certainly affordable with great name recognition; http://www.umassonline.net/degrees/CertFoundationsBusiness.html
You may wish to look into this program at Kanas State University: http://www.dce.k-state.edu/business/administration/
As Bruce says quite a number of MBA programs (including mine at Henley) award a 'Post-Graduate Certificate in Business' upon completion of year one. You may want to seriosuly consider this option. After the first year you may want more and this will keep that option open. All the best, Dave C.
A friend referred me to the American Management Association's Certificate in Finance and Accounting ( www.flexstudy.com ). Has anyone ever completed a certificate program from them? If so, I would appreciate your input.
