This guy does not represent American values. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/arthur-jones-republican-nomination_us_5a77d3f6e4b0905433b5bd84
They have no mechanism to stop him from running and no one to oppose him. If the Pubs are smart then they will take every opportunity to denounce him.
On the flip side, this should mobilize Dems to go out and vote against, similar to the Roy Moore situation.
Maybe, but unlike Alabama, the Illinois 3rd district is safely Democratic, so it won't be the same sort of exciting photo finish.
There are some Americans whose values he represents. Down here in the Deep South, you see those Confederate flags all over, and while some of them are flown by people taking pride in their region, others are flown by downright old school bigots. There are still a handful of high schools with segregated proms down here. Way it works is the families refuse to send their kids to school proms, so those just wither up, and they rent the VFW hall or what-have-you and have their all white/all black prom, with off duty cops at the door to keep the "wrong" pigmentation out. That said, things are different from what they once were, you do see a number of mixed race couples down here and near as I can tell, nobody makes a stink. My daughter dated a kid from Trinidad for a while and they never had to deal with any overt racism.
