This is likely a play on the "seven sisters," a collection of historically women's liberal arts colleges in the NE of the USA

    Barnard
    Bryn Mawr
    Mt. Holyoke
    Radcliffe
    Smith
    Vassar
    Wellesley

There are lots of other "seven sisters" too including Greek and Chinese mythology.

Yes, I'm sure it is - and thanks for that list of EXCELLENT schools in this thread. After so much Breyer State talk, it's refreshing!

The person who coined the phrase "Seven Sorry Sisters" is Alan Contreras, of the ODA. Here's his list:

"Here are the Seven Sorry Sisters: Alabama (split authority for assessing and recognizing degrees), Hawaii (poor standards, excellent enforcement of what little there is), Idaho (poor standards, split authority), Mississippi (poor standards, political interference), Missouri (poor standards, political interference), New Mexico (grandfathered some mystery degree suppliers) and of course the now infamous Wyoming (poor standards, political indifference or active support of poor schools)."

If you want to, get more Alan Contreras here (the original article):

    Hi

One of my favourite quotes from the late Uncle Janko:

"Please don't throw me in the Breyer patch!" :)
