No links; the stories are everywhere.

Huge secret. Flew to Poland on an Air Force C-32, a converted Boeing 757. Then took a long train ride into Ukraine. Took few staff and only two reporters. Didn't notify the public and slipped out of the country. He did notify Russia of his plans about 5 hours before he left.

"Sleepy Joe" stands with Ukraine, traveling into a war zone (with air raid sirens in the distance) to meet with our ally.

"Sloppy Joe" tried to shake down the guy and got impeached for it.

I assume that this is referring to the amusing MTG saying that Biden should be impeached for going to Ukraine?

"Biden didn't go to East Palestine, Ohio on President's Day. He went to Ukraine, a NON-NATO nation, whose leader is an actor and is apparently now commanding our United States military to world war," Greene tweeted.

She was also very upset with Biden for wearing a suit when Zelensky wasn't even wearing a tie. Biden really should consult with MGT before making anymore of these terrible mistakes. :p

No, Biden didn't go to Ohio, and yes, he did go to Ukraine. I like to think that it was safer to go by train to Ukraine vs. Ohio.

He had to wear a suit in order to display his tie made up of the Ukrainian flag's colors.

Well, I hope that is enough to keep him from being impeached.

If he wears a suit, he's too formal. If he dresses casually, he's not serious. If he wears camo, he's playing dress-up.

This is what non-serious argue about.

It reminds me of when they were kvetching about Obama's tan suit. Like, shut up already.

Similarly, I remember when "they" went nuts when Obama returned a salute with a coffee cup in his hand. Not at all consistent with military customs and courtesies, but almost any officer will tell you they've been caught by surprise like that. (The appropriate response when your right hand is encumbered is NOT to salute but to return a verbal greeting.)

BTW, that whole business of presidents returning salutes is relatively new. It was Reagan who made a regular practice of it. I'm against it philosophically. While some will argue that the president is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, he does not have a military rank. Also, I believe it is inappropriate because of our laws and traditions about civilian control of the military. Finally, I think it looks silly.

As with all such things--clothing, saluting, whatever--I'm just saying how I feel, not trying to convince someone to change their mind or to win an argument. (Except when Trump went up the stairs to his plane with um....paper stuck to his shoe. That was objectively hilarious. I also think it was interesting that no one warned him.

The risk in Ukraine is petrifying. Escalation, I mean. We could (and would) level every Russian city and reduce its population (and everything else) to radioactive ashes if Putin launches. Russia has no defense to MIRV warheads. But what if Putin reaches a point where he just doesn't care? We have no effective defense either that I know of.

The sad scary thing about this line of thinking is that the best case scenario the world would be looking at would still be absolutely horrible and unthinkable!

Of course that is what Khyulo Putin is counting on by pushing this nonsense.

Hard to say. The official policy remains MAD, but I wonder what we might have under the hood.

As for Putin, I doubt seriously he can launch unilaterally. They say the US president can, but I've never believed that.

Maybe not, but he has plenty of yes-men, flacks, toadies, lackeys, flunkies, fart-catchers and sycophants etc. to aid and abet him. Medvedev would probably be first to rush to Putin's aid. Disgusting thought...
