    Hello gang,

Its been a while. A red light went up on this school, thought I'd run it by those who have a good sense of these things. It looks like a self-accredited school.

Here's the link on the school's accreditation: http://www.belforduniversity.org/university/accredit.html

    Input as always is welcome.

Back to the research for graduate schools.

It's an unaccredited, pay for a degree business. They've fancied up the website since I saw it last.

    But...

"Select a degree package (Bachelor's, Master's, Doctorate, Associate or High School Diploma) of your choice and click on the ‘Order Now' button with each package to get your degree on the basis of prior life/work experience.

    High School Diploma $249.00 10
    Associate Degree $349.00 10
    Bachelor's Degree $449.00 10
    Master's Degree $479.00 10
    Doctorate Degree $549.00 10 "

I earned a Master degree at Belford University. It is based on my experience. My degree is Master in Debation (and for saying fast is Masturbation). I am good at that; therefore, I don't need to take any class.

Thanks for the input. I shall steer clear of this school, unless I want to be excentric.

If you ever want to have a little fun, go to the Rochville site, and you can select your degree level and discipline from drop down lists and come up with things such as:

    PhD - Auto Mechanics

I recently talked to a "student counselor" about Belford University, and this is what was said. (I'm S)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please wait for a Student Counselor to respond.
All Student Counselors are currently assisting others. Thanks for your patience. The next available Student Counselor will be with you shortly.
You are now chatting with 'Peter'

Peter: Welcome to Belford! How may I assist you today?

S: hi, what are the requirements for a doctoral degree?

Peter: you may apply for your degree on the basis of the your work or life experience

Peter: there is no need to attend classes or to take exams

Peter: if you qualify, you become eligible to get your degree from Belford

Peter: the objective of this program is to award a degree on the basis of your work/life experience and the knowledge that you already have

Peter: without having to attend any classes or go through any exams, you may apply for your degree based on practical work/life experience that you have gained so far

Peter: if you qualify, you become eligible to earn your fully accredited degree or diploma from Belford University which has worldwide acceptance

S: so basically, you're given the degree?

Peter: I'm not really sure what you mean by this.

S: so a person seeking a doctoral degree doesn't have to do any course work, comp exams, and a dissertation? they're just given the degree based on life experiences?

Peter: If they have enough work experience in the field of the major they apply for.

    S: okay, another question...

    S: is the university accredited?

    Peter: Yes it is.

    S: by?

Peter: International Accrediting Agency for Online Universities

Peter: Universal Council for Online Education Accreditation

    S: okay

S: how come the university is accredited by institutions which are not recognized by the United States Department of Education?

Peter: Because USDE deals with Regional Universities only and not online universities.

    S: oh okay

S: what about other universities who are considered online who are accredited by USDE?

    S: is there a difference?

Peter: It's just that USDE deals with just the regionally accredited universities.

    S: okay

S: one more question, is that okay?

    Peter: Sure.

    Peter: Higher Education Accreditation Commission

Peter: You can check this if you want to...

Peter: Go ahead... ask the question you have.

    S: okay

S: I've done a lot of research on several universities I would like to attend to
attain a doctoral degree. When I researched Belford, I got a lot of information that this university was a diploma mill. Why would this be said of this university?

Peter: Well if you notice... most of this information is on public forums and websites hosted some individuals and not some concerned authority.

    S: okay

S: so should I be worried?

S: if this were my choice?

Peter: Do you know what really a diploma mill is?

S: i've heard that it's a school that just gives out diplomas

S: is there a different definition?

    Peter: Well sort of...

Peter: A diploma mill is not really a school.

    S: okay

Peter: It is an organization that would give you the documents of the university of your choice with the grades that you're looking for in the major and degree of your preference.

    S: i see

Peter: An example of a diploma mill

    S: okay

S: If I were to earn a doctoral degree from Belford based on life experience, how would I get my transcripts?

    S: what would they reflect?

Peter: The coursework will be as per the major that you apply for and the grades according to your experience.

Peter: We have a certain grading system for experience evaluation and you'll be graded accordingly.

    S: okay

S: well thanks for your time and answering all of my questions

They apparently do have some standards.....for a doctoral degree they require a "thesis" of approximately 100 pages. I took an old research paper I did years ago which is 25 pages, changed a few things, and submitted it under a fake name.

    It was rejected!!

I feel so inadequate....I guess I'll just have to fabricate a phony resume and do it the "life experience" route. :p

You should have photocopied the 25 pages 3 times, you would have had the required 100 pages =)
