Well sure. However, seeing how you need a priest as the "main" exorcist, there's very little autonomy. Also, I bet the pay sucks - it had to be voluntary donation, you can't charge for it.
So, yeah. It's worth it if you are already involved in the Church helping a priest, perhaps as a reader or subdeacon, or a nun. Doesn't look like a viable career by itself.

I'm not sure. Jesus was known to cast out demons, but that was only a part of His repertoire. There was a lot of that done in the Jewish world of His day -and before. A rabbi named Simeon ben Yohai is said to have driven a demon named Ben Temalion from the daughter of a Roman Emperor.

Roughly contemporary with Jesus was a travelling, preaching rabbi / miracle worker named Hanina ben Dosa. According to the reports of the time, he would cast out demons - sometimes depicted as nasty little hominid-critters about 18 inches high. Some said (wrote) that they would run in fear, crying to the rabbi - "You are the Son of God." If you read up on it, God appears to have had a few Sons in that day. Neither reputed Sons of God nor alleged virgin births were in short supply. Perhaps Hanina ben Dosa might have learned exorcism from his teacher, Yochanan ben Zakkai, who was also reputed to be a demon-caster. *

All that's to the best of my recollection. I quit reading about religion years ago. No more!

    * Maybe Fender Musical instruments could capitalize on this, with a new guitar model: We'd still have the old, revered Telecaster and Stratocaster, plus the new, heavy-metal Demoncaster!
