We never got an answer to the question above, what coup were Democrats wanting and how was Pence involved?

They sought to undermine the administration from Day 1 including using surrogates in the media. But in this specific case Pelosi and others were blackmailing and pressuring Pence to remove Trump from office. He stood up to that and he stood up to Trump. How short our memories are. Two second Google and the headlines popped up.

He stood in the gap between both destructive sides that would have seriously undermined our Democracy (or Republic if you prefer).

You can't make a vague reference to something you thought happened and then expect people to read your mind, especially when your understanding of the situation is wrong.

The Cabinet invoking the 25th Amendment isn't a coup. It's literally constitutional.

A House Resolution asking Pence to join the Cabinet in invoking the 25th amendment isn't blackmail. It's a request he was free to decline, which he did.

I'm not clear on how Pelosi "blackmailed" Pence. In order to blackmail someone, you must have some information about them (or someone/something else) they do not want released, and then you demand recompense to refrain from releasing it. Oh, yeah, and it's a felony.

So, how did Pelosi blackmail Pence again?

What is so interesting about politics in the Trump timeframe is the lies that live on and so many in this country believe. The perfect example of what I'm referring to is Trump's big lie. About 70% of Republicans believe that Biden did not legitimately win the election. There were over 60 court cases brought by Trump and his allies regarding the election. All were thrown out because there was NO real evidence presented only lies were presented. Lawyers even got in trouble for telling these lies about alleged election fraud to the court.

I think that here on this forum the Republicans are more educated and smarter and likely understand that Trump's Big Lie is not true. They are more likely part of the 30% of Republicans that don't believe Trump's Big Lie. Yet, they still generally seem to buy into most of the rest of his lies. This part of the story confuses me. They see their sources of usual political information pushing the big lie yet continue to trust these same sources of information for other less important information. I would really appreciate some help understanding? Please?

Here is me not caring about Pro Trump and Anti Trump ideologues and their distorted and myopic versions of history.

I got excited for a second, hoping this meant we'd one day have an actual dead horse in office instead of the options we're currently stuck with. Oh, how much better off our country would be. :emoji_relieved:

Okay, let me put it this way then. I assume that you appreciate that the Big Lie that Biden lost the last election is not correct. Yet, you apparently still listen to the same sources of information that peddle this big lie and believe other false information they spread like Pelosi tried to blackmail Pence. What am I misunderstanding? Thank you.

You have yet to demonstrate anything but pro-Trump ideology yourself. You might or might not be as pro-Trump as some people, but you are still one.

Where is the laughing emoji :D. I see. You get to decide what group I am with. Utter nonsense. As far as I am concerned a pox on both your houses. The Republicans let him be elected and then didn't always speak up or stand up. The Democrats are simply sleazy as all get out and they put into office a Vice President who is not competent and way in over her head and a President who is in great cognitive decline. Our nation is adrift thanks to ideologues like the Trumpistas and you.

I really dislike this unthinking brand loyalty. It is stupid. But you do ahead and live for the party. I have seen your posts here. You frequently make up what other people say or believe to make your point.

I am going back on snooze mode on the political posts and let you all argue about which fantasy version of reality is better.

And I want to be clear. I am not upset with you nor do I dislike you. Been around people like you on all sides politically. I am used to the personality type and just choose not to be sucked in. The sort of fervor (political) is a substitute for other things missing in our society and in people's lives on a personal level.
