Anyone experienced with Triune Biblical University?

I am looking at pursuing a Masters Degree in Christian Counselling and we have a local college affiliated to Triune Biblical University in Washington. I should mention that I am based in Zimbabwe.

The tuition is affordable but I am unsure how genuine or well recognized a certification from Triune Biblical University is. I do not want to invest time and money into a certification that will not be recognized worldwide as I do wish to immigrate at some stage. Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

This is what TBU has to say about accreditation:

TBU apparently has affiliation agreements with churches, ministries, schools etc in Zimbabwe, Uganda, Malawi, Sierra Leone and Nigeria. As far as I can tell, the TBU Global Extension in Lagos, Nigeria, is not on the list of accredited private universities in Nigeria, nor is it on any list of approved affiliations. Given what they say about accreditation, I didn't expect that either but in Nigeria at least, a degree from the TBU extension school would be of very limited value at best.

”In terms of section 10 of the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education Act (Chapter 25:27), Zimche wishes to inform all stakeholders in higher education that the degrees offered by institutions which are not registered under the Zimche Act are not recognised in Zimbabwe.”

”Zimche has also nullified degree programmes from Triune, Calvary, Atlantic International and Harare Theological College.”

The article was published two years ago so it could be an idea to check with Zimche if things have changed since.

I wonder if Atlantic International refers to Atlantic International University.

Yes, it seems Zimche was referring to AIU. From another article:

"Zimche can state for certain that qualifications obtained from the following institutions cannot be recognised in Zimbabwe: Calvary, St Linus, Atlantic International and Azalia Universities.”

Also, I believe Zimche (in 2015) stated that it was currently seized with evaluating online degrees and no such degree was yet acceptable in Zimbabwe. (See article cited.)

    Whole article here:

St Linus University in Zimbabwe is- or was- run by a bloke who didn't do too well in secondary school but that didn't stop him from becoming a university president later in life. Quite a few businessmen in Zimbabwe hold doctoral degrees from St Linus. The former Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe holds a PhD in Strategic Management from Atlantic International University.

A "stampede" for PhDs, says the Zimbabwe press. Even former typist, Mrs. Mugabe, got herself a doctorate. Nobody's yet been able to see the First Lady's dissertation, though. Whole um-gallery of officials etc. here:

Businessmen, politicians, wives of politicians, musicians, government officials etc, many of them holding honorary doctorates. In all fairness though, the former Governor of the Reserve Bank did write a 132 page dissertation for his 2007 PhD degree from Atlantic International University.

How many pages did Mrs. Mugabe write?

Oh, I don't know, but considering she's a typist, I hope she actually wrote something.

Sorry to dash your hopes. From the Wiki:

"In 2014, Grace Mugabe was given a doctorate in sociology by the University of Zimbabwe, only two months after registering at the university and although a dissertation does not exist. The degree was widely described as fraudulent..."

    Whole thing here:

Mugabe has between 7 to 10 "earned" degrees. He was once a nerd like us. The take away, too many degrees will turn one into an a$$hole.

Come on now Johann, show some respect. I'm sure the First Lady excelled in not writing anything.

At the intersection of thinking with ones head and ones behind. It is a thin line.

Unless, maybe, that person started out as one.

Well, this guy (Nicholson) was working on his 30th degree at last count. Maybe more now.

There was a man named Aric W. Hall, oft-mentioned here, but his website has disappeared. His linked-in site is still up and lists quite a few of his degrees. A 2013 DI comment on him:

"As of his posting Mr. Hall appeared to have 14 associate's degrees, 3 bachelor's degrees, and an MBA, both a Ph.D. and some more associate's in progress, and certificates at graduate, undergraduate, and continuing education levels." - Jonathan Whatley

It looks like he should have gone for a doctorate in career avoidance, and been done with it.

A peek at his LinkedIn page makes it look like there's something not quite right with that guy. He "cannot be employed" because he was "fighting organized crime", which tells me he has a screw or two loose. Not to mention, he apparently hasn't had a job in 13 years, and practically begs to be hired as a police officer in Texas.

Texas LE agencies are constantly hiring, so if you can't get hired there, then there's a reason for it.

I think Mugabe turned into an A.H. He was supposed to be the opposite, a saviour. I guess he fooled a lot of people.

That's quite a common transition, saviour to A.H. ...Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Kim Jong-Il, Idi Amin...
