Very cool recommendation! That price is very doable.

If someone qualifies for a full Pell Grant award, then it makes much more sense to just earn a degree at an accredited school. You just have to select cheap schools. The average community college is about $3,500 annually, and you'll likely get $6,000 in grant money. You'll be sent a refund check that can cover books, materials, and some living expenses.

Agreed. If you can get a Pell grant to cover expenses then working on an accredited degree from the start is the right answer.

Roy, we don't know your circumstances so cannot assess them fully but at 19 are you already working a lucrative job or should you be thinking in terms of education that can support you and a family? I imagine a church as small as yours cannot support you. You will need to be bi vocational. If you are called to full time ministry then start working towards accredited seminary education. If you are bi vocational then what secular career are you interested in? Could be anything from Dental Hygienist (decent pay and two years training) to Social Worker.

If your plan is to support a family in a secular career and do ministry in a small church on the side, then getting a secular education and some inexpensive ministry training may work.

I don't know where the op is in his quest at this point but I just ran into an ad for this DEAC school and so I thought I'd throw it out, just for the hell of it. BTW, they actually have an Associates program as well as a bunch of other stuff on multiple levels.

I managed to get some money together and I'm now attending Nations University.

It's certainly not the worst choice you could've made. Good luck.
