Stupid? He is a graduate of UT Austin (Business) and JD from Vanderbilt.

Beats the heck out of Gov. Lujan Grisham.

    During COVID 19
"Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said she "dropped the ball" when it came to finding a way to use some of her contingency funds to pay for food for needy children or those hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Instead, she found herself dealing with "bad press," as she put it during a virtual news conference with reporters Friday, after it was discovered she had spent some $6,500 on groceries and alcohol while holding small in-person meetings at the governor's mansion."

And NM re elected her. At least their Governor (TX) is producing economic success.

Gov Lujan Grisham's state business plan appears to be abortion procurement and marijuana promotion. She also stepped in it with some gun overreach.

The Governor of New Mexico is irrelevant to my post. Gov. Stupid is grandstanding and in doing so he incurs expense to the State of Texas and the taxpayers.

If you will look back to my first thread about these bouys, I stated exactly what would happen. Now if a plain old country lawyer could foresee that Governor Stupid's stunt would be legally barred and end up costing the taxpayers don't you think there's something wrong here?

Speaking of, Operation Lone Star will also get tossed because it invades the exclusive authority of the federal government when it orders Texas Rangers to arrest and deport undocumented aliens. In fact, state law or no, that could be a felony. Wait and see.

I think that Governor Stupid knew perfectly well that the money he spent on Operation Lone Star would be wasted. He is doing it simply for political reasons. The Republican base is out of touch with reality when it comes to immigrants. They believe that immigrants are bad and must be eradicated. He's just playing to that base. For example, he would never do such a thing if there was a Republican administration in Washington.

    He's not stupid, he's evil. There's a difference.

DeSantis is Governor Evil. But stupid and evil often arrive in the same crate.

I don't see what she says about abortion as being unreasonable. At all. Even if I did - it's not mine to interfere with. This is pretty well totally a women's rights issue as I see it.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2023/04/16/new-mexico-governor-abortion-grisham-00092240#:~:

Excerpt: “These are horrific medical conditions. And again, New Mexico’s position, and mine, is that we should not be interfering with a woman’s right medical situation and her decision about that life-threatening potential circumstance,” Lujan Grisham said. “We shouldn’t be doing that.” (Emphasis mine - J. )

What she said about marijuana doesn't seem unreasonable either. It's legal here and the Government makes some mioney - and so do the licensed marijuana stores.

"“Legalized adult-use cannabis is going to change the way we think about New Mexico for the better – our workforce, our economy, our future. We're ready to break new ground. We're ready to invest in ourselves and the limitless potential of New Mexicans."

Substitite "Ontario" and "Ontarians" and it sounds like what our Gov't guys here said. It's no panacea but it certainly helps the government make money. And it's voluntary - not like taxes. If you don't want to give money to the Government, don't buy the stuff. Simple, Tobacco cigarettes kill half the people who smoke them regularly. Marijuana doesn't.

In the past, I smoked both marijuana (occasionally) and tobacco (heavily, daily.) I quit cigarettes 44 years ago and marijuana the following year. Why did I quit marijuana? Because I firmly believe the greatest danger of marijuana is that it can lead (or in my case, lead me back) to cigarette smoking -- or nowadays, vaping.

Oh, I'm waiting for the horrible effects of long term Marijuana smoking to begin to show up in my state's public health budget. It will take awhile but I'm pretty sure it will happen.

Could happen. I believe all smoking has potential dangers. But most marijuana smokers don't go through 20, 30 or 40 joints a day, so I'm hoping maybe far less damage will show up. People who smoke tobacco cigarettes AND marijuana? They're goners anyway. It's been 50+ years now, that marijuana has had a wide resurgence in much of the Western World. There should be some data somewhere. I'll go look. I'll get back to you, Nosborne.

I'm guessing that alcohol causes far more damage and death than marijuana could even approach. That's not intended to excuse or mitigate any damage marijuana is found to cause.

Maybe it does. Wouldn't surprise me. But that's no justification for any State pushing Marijuana as a source of tax revenue.

Who said they need justification - from anyone? Some states obviously don't even know what that word means. Texas. Florida. Is it somehow even worse than using alcohol and cigarettes as a source of revenue, which has been done for generations? Government costs. We all know that.

There have been some studies that seem to indicate that there are negative side effects to smoking and vaping marijuana. I eat a partial gummy edible each night for sleep. Studies indicate that for the different medical reasons that people may take marijuana helping with sleep is probably the most successful.

If it kills half the people who smoke it regularly - as cigarettes do, let me know. If it does, the sale of both should be banned. Entirely. World wide. Life imprisonment. Neither would disappear - altogether. But there'd be a hell of a lot less needless deaths and suffering.
