When I worked for a finance company, I once repo'd a DeSoto. A '61, IIRC the last model year of production. The model year before was the last year of the "Firedome V8," the Patriarch of all the Hemi's to come. Nice car anyway.

The jerk should have kept up his payments. I knew the guy, so I can say emphatically that he was a jerk. No reason
to pity him - he could have saved the situation - he chose not to.

Note: in 1958, an engine of this family, a 392 - powered the Facel Vega Excellence. French elegance, American muscle. Great combo.
Kind of like one of my favourite bands, now um-disbanded. Django's Cadillac. "Gypsy Swing with American Muscle," they called it.

Get more Facel Vega Excellence here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facel_Vega_Excellence

    Great outfit. It worked!

Being grateful for the information offered by you friends on DI, I took several university certificate programs in which I had an interest.
Some of them were even free. Others I got from platforms like Coursera, HMX, etc.
That being said, those are mainly for self-actualization purposes, and no employers cared when I was looking for a job with those certificates listed on my CV.

Let's see...I always confused DeSoto and LaSalle. The cars not the explorers.

Well, the explorers too, come to that.

LaSalle was a GM guy. Like Antoine de la Mothe, Sieur de Cadillac. The LaSalle was an econo-Cadillac. A very well-made and appointed car, at a far lower price than a Cadillac. I think you could get one for around $2,500. Good looking too.

When I was in Grade 9, (1955), Wally was the oldest student in the class. He was 16 - and owned a car. A 1939 LaSalle coupe. That was a beautiful car. Wally was proud of it and kept it in immaculate shape. He was good with cars. He wasn't really into school, and left at the end of that school year. I ran into him about a year later - he was an apprentice electrician, already making fair money -- and still enjoying his LaSalle.

Wally would be 85, now. I hope he's enjoying his retirement, his great-grandchildren -- and his 1939 LaSalle. Pic of one - a coupe like Wally's, here. https://oldmotors.net/cadillacs-companion-1939-lasalle/ LaSalle cars were made from 1927 to 1940.

I just thought - Wally and his car would be about the same age - 85. Yeah, I hope he still has it.

My father had a 1948 Motown sedan.

Howzat?? Berry Gordy didn't found Motown till '59.

    From Detroit Historical Society:

"With an $800 loan from his family, Berry Gordy, Jr. founded Tamla Records on January 12, 1959, adding the Motown label later that year. Gordy's first successful act was signed as The Matadors, but their name was quickly changed to The Miracles."

Wow. $800 went a long way in those days! :) You could start a business that could get Diana Ross to sing. That's Power!

KU Leuven, the Flemish university in the same city (UCLouvain is the French university) does have an actual master of laws degree in international law (taught in English), but it's not remote.

I thought so... the High Performance model. It had "three carburetors, souped up engine, high compression heads and overdrive," right?
