    Hello!

Let's post funny sounding names of education institutes! I found that one funny: "Imperial Academy" (is one course provider in London, no connection to Mr. Skywalker known).

    Best regards,
    Mac Juli

Right. Bottega - I have some dim memories of that school, from years ago. I seem to remember mostly young guys, hanging in the doorways, with malt liquor bottles, saying things like "How go la lucha, homes?" .... No, I guess that was Bodega U. Sorry.... :)

How about India's "Lovely Professional University." Sounds odd to us - not to them. As one of our eminent senior members said, "At least they didn't call it "SEXY Professional University." :)

"Lovely" is a fully-accredited, very well-regarded school that long ago, made quite sure it was a particularly good environment for women students. Something that's (to me, anyway) very desirable and I don't think such an emphasis is all that common in its country. "Lovely" has a different sound to Indian ears. In our town, we have a car lot, "Lovely Motor Sales" - and yes, it's Indo-Canadian owned. :)

When I saw the "tr" country code I thought of Transylvania. Nope -Turkey. Batman is a different kind of bat - this ain't Dracula! :)

They should go back to its original name, "Andrew Jackson University".

Yes, AJU was a good name. I was planning to go there for my bachelor's after my associate at Ashworth, but they changed to New Charter.

Andrew Jackson does not have the best modern reputation. Perhaps they could pick a less controversial President like Herbert Hoover or Warren Harding.

    That's putting it mildly! https://www.vox.com/2016/4/20/11469514/andrew-jackson-indian-removal

It took a long time, but.... eventually.

Same with Canada's Egerton Ryerson, the "architect" of the terrible Residential School system for Native children. Ryerson University is now Toronto Metropolitan U. (sounds Russian Orthodox somehow , but -- OK) and Ryerson United Church, a few blocks away from me, is now Faith United Church. Once they got started with Ryerson -- it wasn't slow, but it WAS sure. I'm all for that. Document everything the guy did, then remove his name from the landmarks.

Happens during people's lives, sometimes. The former Trump Tower, in Toronto, is now re-named the St. Regis (hotels owned by the Marriott chain). Trump University was re-named - still Trump but not a University - and now it's gone.

Yep - the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Not always a bad thing, for the rest of us.
