Further to Ryerson -- Ryerson Elementary School here in Hamilton has been renamed Kanétskare Elementary School.
https://www.thespec.com/news/hamilton-s-ryerson-middle-school-renamed-kan-tskare-elementary-school/article_0484d22e-e134-5660-9ab5-ff01e77cdfc5.html#:~:text=Ryerson school renamed Kanétskare Elementary School

    From the article:
"A year after the discovery of a suspected 215 unmarked graves of Indigenous children (emphasis mine -J) at a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C. prompted a review, downtown Hamilton’s Ryerson Elementary School is set to get a new name."

Kanétskare is Mohawk for "By the Bay." I think Kanétskare is a very cool name. It was arrived at after consultation with Native knowledge-keepers.

Although I live elsewhere, I'm a native of the area that Converse is located in. It's a solid school with a beautiful campus. I didn't know that it had become a university, so I went to the website to get the details. As I understand it, Converse College still exists for the women students. Converse University will be for their international (I'm thinking online) presence and online programs, which I think are going to be co-ed.

In 2014, I did a special course - Einkaufsmanager (FH) - at the University of Worms. Named after a city in Germany, but I am sure it looks cool for English speakers!!

Yes - I became familiar with the Diet of Worms (not a meal plan :) ) and the Edict of Worms, in history class, during my high school days. (1950s) Story here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diet_of_Worms

Einkaufsmanager, huh? I know one of those. Good guy. :)

I look forward to the day that Andrew Jackson is replaced on the $20 bill by Harriet Tubman.

That seems to be a l-o-n-g look forward, Steve, It's been some years already and this is the latest I can find:

"In January 2021, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said President Joe Biden will accelerate the Tubman redesign.[30] However, the Tubman redesign is unlikely to be released until at least 2030."

I think first announcement was 2016. Delays, delays, delays. Story here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_twenty-dollar_bill#:

Yikes! What was it, Steinhäger? Or Federweisser, maybe? :) Just kidding. Place looks real to me. S. Korea is a nation of great barbecue cooking! This firm has 1,695 restaurants now -- and they intend to develop a full-fledged Theme Park on the property. They say they're not approved to award degrees ... YET.They plan on being ready for mainstream approval, within about five years.

They're ambitious, the approach is reasoned - sounds like South Korea to me... I wish them every success. Well-written article.

    And if anyone's curious: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steinhäger AND https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federweisser

That's a shame when someone out there already did the coolest design imaginable, not that the Fed would ever use it.

We also have St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Elementary School, in Hamilton. She was the first Native person in North Alerica to be canonized by the Catholic Church. She was baptized as "Catherine" - pronounced as Kateri in Mohawk speech. Her story here:

Milik University, a short-lived offshore medical school in St. Kitts circa 2005, both was named for its founder and operator Dr. Nagy Milik, and also used the backronym form "Medical International Learning Institute at St. Kitts."

Don't tell DeSantis UNESCO is replacing OER with the woke new concept FOERSTER. He'll respond by banning FOERSTER from universities.
