Wellwellwell. The NE Patriots are in the Superbowl again. I think this is the 5th time in ten years? Around my neighborhood it was virtually the only topic of conversation today as people all headed off into their weekend plans. I don't pay attention to things like TV ratings but this is going to be such a good game that I have to believe that about a 100 shmillion people will be watching on Sunday night. I think these two teams, each having their strengths and weaknesses, are very evenly matched. I've already gone on record predicting a 27-23 win for the Patriots but I understand that it's almost as likely that the score will be the same with a different winner.

    All the cliches apply:

Whoever has the ball at the end of the game will be the winner.
Whoever commits the most turnovers will lose.

I totally plan to miss Madonna's halftime show (much more fun to go outside and play catch with the dog).

I totally plan to eat lots of nachos.

I totally plan to have fun, regardless of the outcome. Good luck to both teams!

    Hope for no big injuries

By luck of scheduling, I have the day off.

While I'm obviously a Patriots' "homer", I also know that it's very, very rare that ANY team beats Bill Belichick & Tom Brady 2 games in a row, and the Giants beat the Pats in the regular season.

While I don't see a blowout, I think the Pats will win by a comfortable margin, provided Gronkowski is healthy and Brady doesn't suck like he did in the AFC Championship Game.

There is no question, Big Blue is gonna lay the smackdown on the pats. Not that I have a friendly wager going with colleagues who also think the pats will win...but I do and I'm just not looking forward to their whining. :D

I'm a little surprised that this thread has not received more responses. Here are my guesses as to why this might be the case:

    1) Everyone is too busy studying for their upcoming CLEP tests.
    2) Everyone is too busy shopping for Valentines Day gifts.
    3) Everyone is too busy grieving for the death of the women's professional soccer league.
    4) Everyone is too busy grieving for Paula Deane.
    5) Everyone is too busy working out at the gym.
    6) Everyone is too busy "just plain working."
    7) Everyone is too busy "on the internet" (you guys know what I'm talking about)
    8) Everyone is too busy re-organizing their StarWars action figures.
    9) Everyone is too busy pirating music downloads.
10)Everyone is too busy watching reality TV shows (I now officially hate all cooking shows except Anthony Bourdain.

I didn't even know there was a women's professional soccer league.

Well, that certainly didn't start or end the way I hoped.

I would hardly call a 4-point victory that was settled on the final play of the game a "smackdown".

While four points may not constitute a smackdown in the traditional sense, it is close enough for me :D
