    Wait a Minute....

Unless I've missed something, where is the inaccuracy and what is so inflamatory about what Raristud2 has reported and percieved to be true? He is relaying a story that most of America thought was true. I too thought the media outlets had done their research - afterall, we depend on these folks to inform us of what is going on in other parts of the world. The fact that the report in and of itself is false shouldn't mean that Raristud2 should be drawn and quartered. To be totally honest, this is one of the reasons why I would, from time to time, come across interesting articles and refuse to inform the group of them. I remember some time ago, I too was drawn and quartered when another forum member practically called me a liar when I said I had a degree in Professional Administration from Barry University. He said that Barry University didn't have a bachelors degree in Professional Administration. It ended up being funny because while I was typing my message to the group, I had my diploma on my desk in front of me.

Sometimes, I think we all need to exercise a little bit of tolerance in this group. I mean, really. So you don't agree with each other on everything - that is the beauty of it. Sure we all have our political favorites, but at the end of the day, we are all in this together. Lets not forget that - shall we?

Draw and quarter me all you want, no skin off my back. I've said what I wanted and now I'm done.

Hugs to you and get out and vote!

If you don't need to show me then why should I show you? If you're going to post on a hot topic then you've got to expect some heat.

BTW - I'm sorry about your Mom. My Mom has died also.

I am sorry about your mom as well. I don't mind having a discussion with you about politics kizmet. But you went to far on a personal level. That made me go to far with you as well and I ended up attacking you. This is what I don't want. Bring on the heat, but I hope we can have a more cordial discussion.

    Dear raristud and kizmet:

Kizmet - When I first saw this thread, I was duped into believing that an Obama supporter (albeit, admittedly a deranged one) had attacked a McCain supporter and that the issue at hand, political affiliations aside, was one of violence against women. So, I don't think that we can fault raristud for having believed so too.

Raristud - Please realize that the mods are human too. They like to come over to Political and Off-Topics and engage in robust exchanges of billingsgate (and be "just one of the guys/gals"). I've seen the eminent Dr. Douglas get into it with Bruce (whom Rich referred to as "an abusive clown" or something like that) over just this issue. But, certainly, there must be a way for the mods to come down to our level and be "just one of the guys/gals" and not expose themselves to charges of being "abusive clowns" for participating on this particular sub-forum. Certainly, given all the political nastiness that has gone on in the recent political campaigns, you can understand why Kizmet (or any other liberal) might be offended at what might look like a frame-up job on the Democrats.

Both of You - I like you both. Please both take about ten deep breaths each. Peace!

If anyone can show one single example of me, Randell, or Kizmet using our moderation powers to silence anyone or further our own political agenda, I'll post a public apology and make it a permanent sticky. Deleting threads about discount Viagra and banning spammers has nothing to do with politics; I can't even remember the last time I banned anyone else.

Moderation powers and personal opinions are mutually exclusive; I don't think it's really a hard concept to grasp, but some apparently don't get it.

Bruce - I hope you understood that my above post was in defense of the mods. I never meant to suggest that any of the mods were "abusive clowns," merely that I had seen another august Senior Member here make such an accusation against one of the mods. I am, of course, in favor of the mods being able to express their opinions in Political and Off-Topics. I certainly hope that my above-quoted post was not misconstrued.

Not at all Ted, I was just taking the opportunity to make a point very clear.
