    Dr. Douglas,

Is the dissertation publically available and what is the title?

I voted for them because they offer an extensive lineup of DL majors that include a number of interesting and unusual subjects.

I looked at the curricula for a few majors that interest me. They didn't always sweep me off my feet with their absolute wonderfulness (I could occasionally suggest improvements to make them more to my liking), but they certainly seem to be competently designed and reasonably mainstream in their approach. I can't speak to course delivery.

But I do like AMU's military-friendly stance and its willingness to work around the peculiar problems that active military service presents for DL students.

The school has some prominent graduates, including the current Adjutant General of the California National Guard (who has a DL bachelors degree from Excelsior and a DL masters from AMU), the recently retired USMC Deputy Commandant for Aviation, and several other generals.

It is available through Proquest, as are almost all dissertations written at accredited schools. The title: "The accreditation of degree-granting institutions and its role in the utility of college degrees in the workplace."

In the case of your dissertation, only the abstract is available through ProQuest.

I've often wondered why even at a given university and in the same time period, some dissertations are available in full text through PQ, while others are not.

I also voted for AMU because of there strong relationship with the military and the fact that they offer some cool concentrations that you won't find in other institutions. I think that there book grant makes them very attractive for first timers on active duty. I know that the ESO at my unit has been promoting AMU alot to the active duty folks because of the cost, book grant and flexibility.

I voted for AMU/APU since I adjunct there and find the school to be top-notch from an adjunct perspective.

I also adjunct at UoPhx and did not vote for it based on the quality of some of the students I have had pass through my classes lately. I seriously would only hire a few of the students I have had in my two primary courses (which are the last two in the MBA-public admin. program) if I were placed in that position.

I have also attended UMUC for a short time as an undergraduate and found them to be "average". Someone on another thread mentioned the bureaucratic nature of UMUC and I concur 100%, which is one of the main reasons I took my UG studies elsewhere.

I voted for Liberty, simply because I know academic programs better than the average person and the question addressed my perception. To Joe Sixpack or the average HR person, I agree with Rich and would say UMUC.

If someone ONLY knew about their state school, say they only Respected UT or The University of Tennessee, then I would think the University of Maryland University College would have the greatest utilitly.

But if you live in an area, such as the Bible belt or any other religous region in the country, then Liberty brings with it a strong name value.

If you were trying to get a job in Oregon, then maybe people would have no idea what Liberty is. The east coast is familiar with Liberty and they do have a fully ABET accredited engineering program, a law school, and a future medical school. It is also not advertised like Strayer, Devry, ITT, or other schools are.

No. It can be purchased, but only in print. Not available electronically. That was my choice.
