    Hi Bill,

I have never noticed you to launch personal attacks on anybody or write posts that have no conceivable relation to the subject at hand. You can read my attempts to coach Rich to actually read the thread before attacking the poster, his level of expertise in a subject and the demeanor of his posts here:

    http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20279

If Rich had actually read the above thread before posting, he could have avoided embarrassing himself. Too bad, because he does have valuable expertise to share.

And, finally, never have I thought of you as a bully or obnoxious bonehead who posts incessantly to hear the sound of his own voice.

    Best wishes,

    Dave

I read that thread and that's why I wanted to make my position on ODA clear before your ruling on my average number of posts per day.

Here's my subjective interpretation of the situation. While I appreciate the kind words in your post directed at me, I would guess that they are not truly heartfelt. That you really just wanted to take another few potshots at Rich.

I don't think that Rich embarrassed himself in that thread. I think that you got overly defensive. You were actually quite insulting towards Rich and continue to be so.

On the other hand, Rich could have been a little more careful in his responses because he obviously got you all worked up over what appears to me to be very little. Then this thread seems to be using you as a scapegoat. I think that Rich just needs to take a break every once in awhile from posting here. I would guess that he felt it was time for a break anyway and used you as an excuse for making that happen. I hope to see him return sooner rather than later.

So is 2.13 posts per day within the acceptable range? ;)

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for writing back. Actually, my thoughts and advice, as always, were quite sincere. If a person is acting like a bully or a genius, then I will offer my feedback on either, if I happen to read that thread. We have all seen people do both on this board over the years, but some have a reputation for the former, rather than the latter. I have never picked a fight with Rich and have even defended his views on occasion. Except for his ridiculing (in my opinion) of questions and the posters of them, he usually interjects a valuable comment somewhere in the discussion. If Rich was insulted in the above thread, then he took unintended offense to my feedback, and probably not vice versa. If he knew anything specific about "Parkwood University" and any "requirements" for the "degrees", he had ample time to share it as others did, but instead he started by ridiculing the question, which clutters up the threads, in my opinion.

To clarify, Rich suggested that the level of his posts per day was too high. That was his metric, not mine. I suppose what I had in mind was count of the number of posts associated with insulting (to use your word) the poster, picking a fight or protracting a fight, activities that I find impolite and seem to go against the purpose of this board. If someone is mostly ridiculing other posters and perpetuating fights, then they might be posting too much per day.

In sum, feedback is a gift and I appreciate hearing your thoughts.

    Best wishes,

    Dave

Dave: I pretty much think this thread was "tongue in cheek" by most posters. You needant take it very seriously.

Is 8.97 posts per day too much?

BTW- Little Fauss, you have made it to 3.82 posts per day, just like the greadt Rich Douglas.

Thank you for your generosity. I am a regular beneficiary of up-to-the-minute news about distance learning, accreditation and degree mill info, thanks to the efforts of many on Degreeinfo. If I can make a decent contribution here and there, I try.

so how does one figure out how much they are posting?

Click on the profile button of your last post, MichaelR, and up will come a big screen that has bunches of information about you, including (among other things) your total posts and your posts per day. So, for example, that Ted Heiks guy has 1456 posts since February 2005 for 9.33 posts per day. And MichaelR has 558 posts since March 2003 for 0.65 posts per day.

It's about math. Here's a word problem for everyone:

"Tracy has posted a total of 342 messages to the DegreeInfo message board. He averages 0.21 posts per day. How long (in days) has the message board been in operation?"

Anyone who answers this question (correctly or not) wins a slight bump in their own average posts per day!

    1 / 0.21 * 342 = x
    4.7619047 * 342 = x
    1628.5714 = x

I think I should be a 'Member' now!

Ok, so I have no stake in the subject of this thread, other than this will be my 30th post and will hopefully mean I drop the awful 'New Member' tag I carry. Here's hoping...

When you reach 100 posts, your title changes to "Senior Member" (AKA "You're hooked now"). When you reach 1000 posts, you receive an honorary Doctorate of Pontification (Pont.D.?) :)
