FYI, https://www.yahoo.com/celebrity/son-says-joseph-wapner-unlikely-tv-star-dead-195144749.html I used to love to watch his "The People's Court" episodes. I think the court cops name was Rusty?
And, of course, the real connection with this forum is that Wapner was, early in life, a serious beau of Lana Turner, who went on to marry (as her 7th and last husband) diploma mill kingpin Ronald Pellar (Doctor Dante). -John Bear, whose mind is just too full of trivia. Ought to be on Jeopardy. No, wait, I was.
And since I brought it up, I am now wondering if Ronald Pellar (Dr. Dante) still walks among us? A Google search does not tell me. He harassed me more extensively and devastatingly than all the other diploma mill operators combined. (Where was Cheryl Crane when I needed her?)
His variously given birthdates make him around 88-90 years old. Pellar himself said he was born earlier, in 1920. That would make him 96 or 97. A while ago, I looked and found no indications anywhere of his demise. Dr. Bear, I'm sure you would agree with Steve Foerster that "Satan is patient." Oddly, we were discussing Pellar, Judge Wapner and Lana Turner in another thread. http://www.degreeinfo.com/accreditation-discussions-ra-detc-state-approval-unaccredited-schools/54313-phoenix-university-theology.html Lana and the judge dated about twice, perhaps, as teenagers. He went on to marry "Mickie" in 1946 and she survives him today. They were married 70 years. J.
Still a Pellar of our community, as far as I can determine. But that would make him at least in his mid eighties.
Dr. Bear, didn't you appear (as yourself) in a movie about (and featuring) Ronald Pellar, in 2010? "Mr. Hypnotism" by Brad Beesley? This one? Mr. Hypnotism (2010) - Full Cast & Crew - IMDb If anybody wants to watch it, it's available on Vimeo and a few other websites. Just Google the title. J.
Useless trivia; Rusty Burrell was one of the bailiffs for the Charles Manson trial, and is mentioned a couple of times in the Helter Skelter book by author/prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi. Burrell used to to sit in on unofficial conversations between Manson & Bugliosi, just because he found them interesting.
I used to live in the same area as Wapner in the 1980s. Occasionally I would see him in a local barber shop; he spent his time there explaining judicial verdicts to the barbers (who did not have a great grasp of the English language) and who just ignored him. I wondered if he was practicing for his TV show.
