I completed my DBA at Swiss Management Center (SMC) university, earlier this month. I would like to take this opportunity to appreciate the content provided by this forum that helped me immensely when I was researching various schools and programs back in 2010. Special thanks to Steve Foerster who exchanged a few mails as he was enrolled in this school at that time and gave some helpful tips that clarified my decision.

The purpose of this post is to also prod those of you who are sitting on the fence about committing the time and resources on higher education and those who have embarked on this journey but are now struggling to complete it. I am a busy professional with an active young family and it took time management and a lot of personal motivation, especially in the dissertation phase to accomplish this. However, the end results were totally worth it.

Finally, the utility of this forum and it's members in providing a wealth of information and advice is so much apparent to me, now that I have gone through this journey. Kudos to all of you and keep learning...

I just received my final grade and will graduate this Sunday from Purdue University with a MS in Technology with a concentration in Information Technology Project Management. I also achieved a 4.0. It was tough and tool me almost three years but I'm done. Now I need a new hobby.

Congrats, NMTTD! Wasn't that amazing you were from Schiller International University to Arizona State University with the recommendations from DegreeInfo's members? Now, you are climbing the state prestigious universities for your higher education. Well, the Ph.D in International Development at the University of Southern Mississippi is waiting for your admission in 2016. Once again, Congratulations!

NMTTD, it's been awesome to see you blaze your trail.

And you know – I'm fully convinced that you would have been a success story on the path you'd been pursuing when you found your way here. But I'm glad that you've found something else, even better for you. You'll have a success story and then some.

Congratulations, good luck, and stick around!

Thanks so much. And I'm definitely sticking around. I'm thinking about doing a 2nd master's....maybe. I'm still really loving the Poli Sci degree from Virginia Tech. I don't know. We'll see. But no matter what, I'll always be a member here. No plans on leaving at all. I love it here. So much amazing info and advice.

Quite impressive! Not just you but your kids as well! Were you the Capella University PhD learner in Organization & Management/Human Resource Management that was writing his dissertation on National Guard retention rates or do I have you confused with someone else? Either way, good luck on your dissertation defense!

I was able to knock out a BS in a few months and used that + some science classes at local colleges to apply to medical school. After med school, I matched into a pretty prestigious residency. I'm pretty grateful for undergrad degree programs like these. I don't think I would have made it if I had been required to sit in a classroom for 4 years.

Success Story: BA in Mathematical Sciences, UIS, Magna cum laude

I guess it's safe to go ahead and post this... it still seems to good to be true!

Tomorrow morning I'm flying from Raleigh, NC to St. Louis, and driving from there to Springfield, IL. At 4:00 PM my wife and I will attend a reception for honors graduates; I'm one of three in the Math department.

Saturday morning there is a brunch for graduates of the various online programs at UIS, where I hope to meet a few of my classmates.

Then at 4:00 PM is the big event: Commencement!

I'll enjoy a summer of not studying until the Fall Semester starts. I've been accepted to North Carolina State University's brand-new online Master of Statistics program. (The program isn't actually new, it was started by Gertrude Cox in 1941; but they just this summer got approval from the accreditor to offer the program in an online format.)

I joined this forum in 2010, and I had a lot of help from the members here in selecting a school, and a lot of encouragement from reading everyone's posts about their challenges and triumphs. Thank you, one and all!
