This school is not affiliated with Xavier University in Ohio, Xavier University of Louisiana, nor St. Xavier University in Chicago.

 

So is it a legitimate degree ? It offers online phd ? That's why i'm asking...

 

No, I don't think it is legit! I don't see any organization accredited their degrees

According to my research,

Xavier University main campus and medical school is located on the Netherlands Antilles in the Caribbean and was founded in 2003.

In addition, it is listed in the University of Copenhagen's database of World Health Organization listed Medical Schools. Go to database, country then Netherlands Antilles.

However, I do not see it listed in the United Nations link to International Association of Universities database (May or may not hold much weight in making a determination):

Finally, I do not see it mentioned in the Oregon State Diploma Mill website:

Armed with these facts and not speculation, I hope you can make a more informed decision. What doctoral program are you interested in?

 

Do you mean Americans from the United States of America? North America, Central America or South America? Are Caribes American?

 

I lived in PR many years ago, sure miss the place! I have a friend who went to Ross in Dominica which is now ironically a school owned by an "American" accredited school (Devry).

 

What about Open University of Malaysia ? Is it a legitimate degree? and there is one more Asia E University ???

 

It appears that some governments try to lure medical schools to their shores just as they try to lure other businesses. They look at it as economic development. In particular, they promise entrepeneurs that new schools will be approved and that their names will be dutifully forwarded to the World Health Organization in Geneva before the entrepeneur even agrees to locate his school on their territory and before the school even begins operation.

The WHO in turn lists all the schools that have been officially recommended by a government regardless of whether that recognition had any academic conditions. Many US states in turn use the WHO listing when deciding what kind of foreign education qualifies for medical licensing.

So that's turned into quite a loophole and scores of ostensible medical schools dot the Caribbean, most of them proprietorships run by small American entrepeneurs and serving US students who couldn't get into domestic medical schools.

My impression is that these off-shore medical schools range from a handful of reasonably credible ones like St. George's to an unknown number of flat-out mills. The stardards that each one may or may not have been required to meet are opaque and unknown. What is known is that few of these things resemble medical schools that would be accredited by the AMA here in the states. Facilities are typically minimal and faculties iffy.

 

Your questions are starting to reflect a degree of laziness on your part in doing your own due diligence and drawing conclusions. Although there should be, there is no Global database on "diploma mills".

I just asked whether these schools are legitimate or not. Because i will start my phd soon so i dont want to waste my time and money for nothing. I dont have money such 40000 $ to give american schools. Thanks for your kind help Ian.

 

The point I would like to drive for the original poster (OP) is that just because someone on this forum says yes it is or no it isn't, doesn't hold water unless you have references and sources to back that statement.

The only consensus on this forum is that diploma mill = not "legitimate". Fine! What may be legitimate in Timbuktu may very well be bogus and unaccepted in another part of the world.

 

You are going to be a PhD one day and an expert in research and evidenced based science and the answer to your query of where you got your degree is "a guy named Delta from Degreeinfo.com told me it was legitimate".

 

Delta sorry but what is your problem ? If you want to help just help otherwise dont. I read thousands of topics in degreeinfo. I decide just not for one it is legitimate word but taking into consideration all of my research
