I was moving some boxes with older records and found my Henry Mancini Collection of Great Music (The Classic Soundtrack Collection.)

Listening all day and simply amazed how themes were as memorable as the movies they backed.
The Pink Panther Theme, Romeo & Juliet followed by Elmer Bernstein's Magnificent Seven, the Peter Gunn Theme.
The Young and the Restless followed by Exodus in an arrangement different from the original soundtrack's, not Mancini compositions. This is an album of Mancini Orchestra's covers, not all is exclusively his original music.Yet its pure MAGIC.

Yeah - it sure is. I remember I liked the Peter Gunn theme, but it was the background music at "Mother's" on the TV show that I was really hooked on. In my mid-teens (1958-60) that music was what really got me excited about jazz. Still a fan -- listening to JAZZ-FM right now. Canadian station - CJRT 91.1 - you can listen 24/7 on their website.

I thought Craig Stevens (Peter Gunn) was the coolest dude in the world (because he WAS) and I wanted to dress just like him. I thought it would impress girls -- but I didn't yet have the kind of money those fine threads cost... Oh, the agony of those teenage years! :)

Google: "Peter Gunn, a top-rated detective drama, ran on NBC from 1958 to 1960, and then on ABC in 1960 and 1961. The television series was distinguished for its stylish and sophisticated lead character, Peter Gunn, and is also remembered for the jazz-influenced music of Henry Mancini."

Unlike you I watched some of it after leaving Soviet Union.
But some I watched when was a kid, such as Romeo and Juliet theme or Inspector Clouseau Theme - Louis de Funès was big star in SU.

This one has mostof the songs that on my record but in different order.

He also wrote the theme to Newhart, the show with the funniest final episode in television history.
