Hi there was one time Swedish universities were very actively discussed as they habe a lot of free courses with ECTS. I accumulate a lot. But I can’t remember which courses. Is there any central link that can help me check the courses and number of credits? Also how to use these credits towards a degree?

I think that you would have to contact the university/universities in question. In order to use them towards an American degree, you would need to get them evaluated by an American evaluation service. This would cost approximately $200USD per transcript.

    Hello!

Well, a wise man said that institutions are quick to hand out ECTS and slow to accept any... Guess this is right.

I've never heard of any central registry for ECTS credits where you'd be able to retrieve that data. As far as I know, these are all handled by individual schools so you'd have to backtrack and find the schools you studied with and contact them.

You would use the ECTS credits like you would any other credits: submit the transcripts to the institution you want to enroll with and then have them evaluate. Some schools will evaluate foreign credits without a foreign credential evaluation, but most schools will ask for a WES evaluation, others will ask for an evaluation from any NACES evaluator. The cost of that may vary depending on what you're sending the evaluator.

Yes, find a NACES evaluator and see what they come up with. If you're in the EU, try the UK Naric. It all depends where you are and where you want it evaluated...

You can use them to get a degree from Excelsior or similar. ECE can evaluate them as US credits and then you can transfer them. Another option is to use them to get a top up degree from the UK, few UK Universities can take them to get a top up MBA, MSc, BSc or BA.

Yes, most schools accept a small number of ECTS credits for transfer. Most of the ECTS certificates are meant for people with no formal education background (e.g. no high school) for them to access University programs. I don't know if there is the equivalent of Excelsior in Europe. I also have quite few of the ECTS credits, they are just continuing education and a nice diploma to hang in the wall.
