Depends on how it is presented or how it is argued, I guess!

    Hi Fadel and all,

I just wanted to pipe in here since I live in the UAE (and have now gotten my technical problems solved-- couldn't post earlier). The above statement isn't entirely accurate, at least not considering the government as the employer, which is most often the case in education in the GCC. Most educational institutions don't accept DL degrees for hiring instructors -- in fact, I just found out the Military Language Institute has just instituted this rule, and told staff members already there that if they had a DL Master's, they would no longer be paid the M.A. salary rate, but would be cut to the B.A. rate (as you can imagine, many are resigning).

Fadel, I assume you teach at a government school. What subject do you teach? If you teach English, and are looking to do your degree in EFL, you might also want to check out Exeter University and Aston University -- both have M.S. programs that have short residencies (one weekend a month, I think) in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, respectively. I know it would mean a greater investment in time and money to fly to the UAE every month, but you might want to see if those programs would be accepted. Otherwise, you might consider getting a teaching position in one of the private schools -- they are probably much more flexible regarding degrees.

Hopefully, this attitude will change soon, particularly considering the opening of and royal backing of the Arab Open University. Of course, those degrees might only be accepted in the private sector for awhile, but I think things will change.

Good luck to you! I hope you can find a solution to your problem!

    Regards,
    Adrienne

    Re: The big 3?

As far as I know, there is no mention of DL, External, Distance, Online, etc. on the diplomas of TESC, COSC, or Excelsior.

    zvavda,

I dont understand your last post ? You are giving a list of universities for what ? you said "List of USA degree who can admitt to be civil servant " and then you are saying you cant work in govt ? your post is confusing.

    Sorry for my english first,

In case like fadel said I want to tell that government recognized degree abroad is for who want to work with government only.

Like I'm in Thailand, Office of the Civil Service Commision declare that if people graduate from USA only from that list can accept to be civil servant.

If I don't want to be civil servant don't follow his accredited.

It same case of fadel that his gov. not regcognize any DL degree like our gov.(I had discuss before)

If I want to be civil servant I will follow government regcognize.
BUT you see how hard I can be... if so I don't care his regcognize BUT only thing to consider before take DL degree is how recognized in private sector.
