In May 2013 Warnborough College (UK) was inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), the agency approved by the United Kingdom Home Office to carry out Educational Oversight inspections of Private Further Education Colleges in England and Wales. ‘It is designed to improve the quality of education on offer to international students through Tier 4 of the points based system for student visas’.

Warnborough again passed the inspection in three required areas. It met expectations in: (1) The quality of the curriculum and teaching and learners’ achievement. (2) The students’ welfare including Health and Safety. (3) The effectiveness of governance, leadership and management.

The inspectors held discussions with management, staff and teachers, and conducted formal interviews with students, and examined samples of students’ work. Regulatory documentation was examined by the inspectors. In sum, ‘The college has improved the good standards found at the last inspection’.

The ISI report is in the public domain: Warnborough College - ISI - Private Further Education

Note: This is NOT a degree-granting school. From the ISI report:

"The college has changed its business model several times over the last two years. It offers courses in business, travel, tourism and hospitality, marketing and human resources. In addition it now offers English language courses and adult summer camps for English. It has also been an official examination/test centre for the Education Testing Services (ETS), Princeton, New Jersey (USA) for over 35 years offering their TOEFL, Test of Spoken English, and the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE)."

I consider Warnborough College UK to be a sort of "gateway" to this place: Warnborough College, Ireland All Our Degrees and Courses - Warnborough College Ireland - Online degrees, distance learning, MFA, MBA, creative writing

Although this purportedly Irish school offers degrees all the way up to doctorates, it is neither accredited to do so, nor yet permitted to offer degrees by the Irish Government. Its ASIC "accreditation" "neither confers nor validates degree-awarding powers." (Note 37 of the Wiki below.)

Here's the long "Pan-Warnborough" history: Warnborough College - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. I suggest that particular attention be paid to the "Accreditation" section. I consider it both instructive and illustrative.

We have many, many threads on "the Warnboroughs," be they Irish, UK, or whatever.

It is surprising that more credence is given to Wikipedia over recognised and well established accreditation bodies such as the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), the British Council (BC), Association of Business Executives (ABE), etc. Wikipedia is well known for its inaccuracies, and anonymous people, editors and administrators who push their own agendas, and who have not had their qualifications verified. Many people and institutions have had their reputations damaged by Wikipedia.

Warnborough College (UK) is NOT a degree granting institution and it is NOT a ‘gateway’ to Warnborough College (Ireland), BUT to 47 United Kingdom universities (plus many overseas universities) who accept Warnborough ‘ABE’ degree pathway students for advanced placement into their degree programmes.

It's usually only well known for this by people who don't like what their Wikipedia articles say about them. Except on highly controversial topics, the collaborate development approach and neutral point of view ethos of Wikipedia renders it resistant to that sort of damage.

Note that this isn't meant to be a statement about Warnborough College, with which I'm unfamiliar.

I'm not giving one credence over the other. In this case, I tend to believe both. And I quoted/referred to both in my post.

As Steve observed: Many people and institutions just plain do not like the info posted about them on Wikipedia. As for me, I see no specific denials, here. If Wikipedia isn't to your taste, just search "Warnborough" on any of the various degree-fora. From reading the available history, it's my opinion that "the Warnboroughs," over the years, may have had the major role in any "damaging" of their name - by their own, documented actions.

OK. We're at least agreed on something. As we've both said, (and I was first) not a degree-granting institution. Not a gateway? Well, if you say so - but aren't they owned/founded by the same people?

Johann - an anonymous Internet troll nobody listens to, anyway. :jester:
