In what I think is one of the biggest, yet under reported stories, Voters in 11 States rejected Gay Marriage -- Yea!

    Here's the Story

And Tom Daschle got booted. Apparently even sounding gay is a crime nowadays. :)

i have read some of your work BLD. good stuff.

i have some questions for you when you get time.

This issue will almost certainly end up being decided by judges, not legislators or voters, like many important morale issues. They (radical left voters and judges) think we are too stupid to understand the constitution and civil rights; I feel the exact opposite.

    My prediction

Gay couples will ultimately be entitled to the same benefits as married heteros, although the arrangement may not be referred to as marriage.

Uptight religious-type people will wring their hands about the state of society; the ones that publicly protest will go down in the annals of history alongside the segregationist people screaming at black children as they tried to get into their "white schools."

    Life will go on.

    dcv,
One of these days gays will learn that being homosexual and being black are not the same thing.

I'm not sure how many think that, but just for giggles...

Let's hear your rational arguement for denying benefits to people on the basis of their sexual orientation.

I never said anything about denying gays benefits. They already have the same rights that everyone else does in this country.

They have the right to get married to someone of the opposite sex just like everyone else. What gays are after are special rights based on an immoral choice they have made. Why should they be rewarded for depraved behavior?

As I suspected - no rational argument, just "immoral" and "depraved" labels based on your religious ideology.

What do they call obstinate and unreasoning attachment to one's own belief and opinions, with narrow-minded intolerance of beliefs opposed to them?

    dcv,
Why are "depraved" and "immoral" not rational arguments? Those are rational arguments against deviate behavior in all other areas of our culture.

Ask yourself why are they immoral or depraved. Because you say so? Because the bible says so?

    dcv,
I can ask you the same questions as to why you believe homosexual sex is not depraved and not immoral. The fact is we all have a different rationale that we come to the table with. Just because mine might come from a different source and/or experience doesn't mean there is no rational reason for it. The Bible is my moral code, but nature itself proves that homosexual sex is not normal, as does the world of psychology (until recently when political pressure made them change their designation of homosexuality from a mental disorder even though there was no scientific evidence to back that change).

To which I would respond that it seems just a little silly to me to classify gay sex in dogs and sheep (and the hundreds of other species where this behavior occurs) as immoral. Not natural? Apparently no one told nature that.

You have every right to your morals. You don't have the right to inflict them on others without good reason. Your bible doesn't constitute good reason in this society.

I don't care to argue with you on this issue. Time will tell if my predictions were correct.

I'm not "inflicting" my morals on anyone. If anything, that is what the gay rights movement is trying to do to the rest of us.

BTW, those animals aren't gay, they are animals that are not intelligent enough to realize that that isn't really a vagina they're messing with.

I am curious though. Are you also for marital rights for polygamists?

Actually they are both very much alike. You see both are minorities that were born minorities.

That's just PC nonsense. Gays are minorities when it somes to sexual choice, but they certainly weren't born that way.

In fact gays can change and have sex with the opposite gender at will. Do you know any folks that can change their skin color?

IMMORAL CHOICE! It never fail to amaze my how gay bashing religious groups choose to ignore the facts. Why? Because if they would accept that fact that just like heterosexuals didn't choose their sexual orientation, neither did homosexuals. They would have no foot to stand on and base their argument on.

Also this makes the US look bad in the eyes of the world compared to its next door night Canada. It proves that the US is still behind Canada when it comes to human rights issues, and that they really are not as free of a country as they would like to believe they are.

    bo,
You're making some grand statements, with no facts to back them up. Typical left-wing nonsense.

Being gay is no more genetic than pedophilia is, and they are both equally immoral.

Rather than being a step behind Canada, et. al. we are way beyond and above them.

Here's a new chant: "Go USA, no legalized marriage for gays!"

    Re: My prediction

Equating these two is simply ridiculous. Many people who oppose homosexuality fought long and hard and risked their lives fighting for civil rights and integration.

Blacks, by an overwhelming 75%, oppose homosexuality and same sex marriage.

Personally, I oppose same-sex marriage within the church but don't see how a free society can stop people from entering into whatever realtionship they desire.

    Jimmy,
We obviously can't stop anyone from engaging in homosexual behavior, but we can keep from giving that immoral activity an air of legitimacy by sanctioning it as marriage.
