Interesting: Minor in 3-D Animation http://itp.usc.edu/minors/3-d-animation-minor Minor in Video Game Programming http://itp.usc.edu/minors/minor-in-video-game-programming Minor in Video Game Design and Management http://itp.usc.edu/minors/minor-in-video-game-design-and-management ...it's not only ITT and the like where you can get Game education; reading one of the IEEE mags it says that in the last year of studies you develop a game which you can then use in your portfolio.. not to mention they have a show and tell at the end of the year where all the major companies send their ppl to have a look ( disney, etc )
Game development, IMO, is a legitimate career choice for aspiring programmers. Games are inherently tied to culture (think of all the cultural references in Grand Theft Auto), making offshoring developers more difficult. And the demand for new games is infinite. On the other hand, I would expect age discrimination to be even more widespread in this sector. I'd plan to be out of this sector by age 30 - Logan's Run.
Excelsior offers a BS in IT with a concentration in Video Game and Simulation Development. The concentration is a partnership between Excelsior and Game Institute. As you can see from the Game Institute website they also partner with many other colleges.
