I am not sure. Did you?

My point was that UOP is not prestigious by design. It may even "never be equal to" (someone's definition of) "real b&m university". But it doesn't need to be. UOP is a place for working adults to conveniently finish their degree studies (well, it's primarily a money-making corporation; but it makes its money being... what I said before). And where "prestige" comes to undermine this mission, UOP sacrifices "prestige", as it should do.

Analogy: community colleges are not prestigious. For a CC to become prestigious means to abandon its unique mission. Are CCs worthy institutions? You bet they are!

I was merely pointing out that UOP is a bricks & mortar school and that, as an open admissions school, they will likely have a high wash rate (while prestige schools, with high reject ratings, have low wash rates). I never said UOP was prestigious, but I'm sure they must be good enough to meet somebody's needs.

    Richtx,

There are schools that have instructors with MAs. UNC and Duke are two I know of off hand that do hire insturctors with these credentials. Are you questioning Duke and UNC?

Actually, virtually all universities hire non-PhDs, usually on a limited, non-full-time and/or non-permanent basis. They couldn't survive otherwise.

BTW, Michael, are you applying for the archivist/history library job at UH?
