Are they missing any? I don't see the Doctor of Leadership (D.Lead) or Doctor of Worship Studies (DWS).

I find it kind of odd that they categorized the DBA as a research degree, but the DPA and DHA were categorized as professional degrees. To me, they're kind of all the same thing, just with different foci.

Whole Health Leadership? LOL. Oklahoma State University's DHA is technically a DHCA. Sigh. Speaking of OSU, they also have a DFS. I feel like creating unique names is going to become the norm, which means that more people will have degrees that can't be found on drop-down menus.

Professional degrees are "research degrees." First professional degrees are not.

Indiana University Indianapolis offers the PhilD, the Professional Doctorate in Philanthropic Leadership.

Also offered in the US but omitted from UoPeople's list: Doctor of Letters, Doctor of Professional Practice, Doctor of Professional Counseling, Doctor of Marriage and Family Therapy, Doctor of Educational Leadership (EdLD), Doctor of Applied Leadership, Doctor of Contextual Leadership, Doctor of Engineering and Technology Management, Doctor of Intercultural Studies, Doctor of Applied Intercultural Studies.

They combined first professional degrees with applied doctorates. I guess you can argue that the DMin and DEng are not research degrees since they are not intended to train researchers, but they also aren't entries to practice.

In my opinion, there should be three categories.

Research doctorates that require a dissertation or thesis and multiple research courses.

Applied academic doctorates that require an alternative culminating experience or no culminating experience. These programs usually don't require statistics or multiple research methods courses.

First professional degrees - required to enter a regulated profession.

The DMFT is a big one to miss, but they did a pretty good job of finding obscure programs. I think some of them are extinct. I couldn't find a current D.Crim or D.Chem.

Rich mentioned the DTech in another thread. It's offered by Purdue and Claremont Graduate University.

I find that odd. what would be the difference between a Doctor of Management and a Doctor of Management Science?

As an aside, Bellevue has long offered a PhD in Human Capital Management which is also not on the list.

I'm waiting to see the curricular content, but I suspect there is no significance to the variance in degree titles.

I used to teach in the PhD program you cite.

(Disclosure: Bellevue is one of my clients. I designed and run its Human Capital Lab at www.humancapitallab.org)

Interesting. I did by BA and MS at Bellevue and really enjoyed both programs. I've looked at the PhD in HCM many times. I'm impressed!
