    Well, it depends upon the cause. If your contention is that the schools system must simply be making a mistake, then you're right.

    What I had in mind when I made this comment was that I work with a subscription based service which vigilantly tracks logins. Every time I login from a remote location, I get an email and then a phone call, from the account rep asking me if i am letting someone use my login and reminding me that I am not permitted to do so.

    Generally, the explanation is simply that I was working from home. Or I decided to login from my work laptop while at a job fair or a conference. I've also had an issue when I use VPN. These are reasonable explanations, I feel.

    If, however, the system is recording you logging in at 9 am. Then, at 10, someone from Rwanda logs in and submits an assignment, and you begin logging in from your normal location after that, that doesn't really favor one's claims of innocence.

    That's fair, but of course we don't that anything of the sort happened, which is why I'm rather reluctant to engage in negative speculation about the poster.
