    pfolman,

I can bet you have bitterness toward academic DL institutions because you could not successfully complete a degree. The tone of your postings show bitterness, at least it does to me. And your gross grammatical errors indicate that you have no university degree. At least not one from Capella or anywhere else that requires competent writing skills.

Oh, Dang! That finger you mentioned just pushed the button. I'm only banning you for one month, this time. Learn some manners and you will be welcome here. (You might work on your spelling and grammar, too.) When you are reinstated on March 21st, please remember that when you post on this board, you are often communicating with graduate students, professors, administrators and even a few academic deans. Please bring your discourse up to a level that is appropriate in that company.

Many regulars on Degree Info know a great deal about the strengths and especially the weaknesses of a degree earned online. You are not shocking anyone with your statements or even bringing up a novel point. Almost no one here attempts to hide those limitations, in fact, that's a subject that is heavily discussed. Very few here would suggest that a degree from Capella, or any other online school, would open the same doors that a degree from somewhere like Harvard would, but Capella offers a rigorous program that is deserving of our respect. In fact, there are a number of successful professors employed at traditional universities who hold doctorates from Capella. You are revealing your ignorance when you make blanket statements about a school that you probably have never attended and obviously know very little about.

Lol. That's probably in the near future. I doubt that he can behave if and when he comes back.

I guess your version of "real answers" includes the blatantly false information that you included in your rant? I'm glad you are tired of this place because we are clearly better off without you. By the way:

I only banned him for one month. He will have the opportunity to return on March 21st so keep an eye out for his venom. The funny thing about it that he could get away with saying all of the things he said and not be banned if he used more tact and spoke kindly. I'm not holding out much hope for that though.

Wow. Interesting to watch the drama unfold on this thread. Gotta love trolls.

Since the original post... has anyone learned more about ULM's online PhD in MFT? Does anyone attend it? Just curious.

As in most PhD programs the dissertation makes the program. If you have a topic that you can work with for the next years you are good, otherwise.....

That's the first time I've heard that a person's dissertation topic makes a PhD program good, or not. It seems like one dissertation would reflect more on the individual than anything.

But I personally wasn't asking about dissertations in my post (maybe someone else was).

Since you are in the program yourself, I am curious about the actual learning. The program is advertised as emphasizing creative arts in therapy... however, I don't see any courses that are geared toward creative/expressive therapeutic modalities.

Here's the course listing, form the website:

    MAFT 668 - Special Topic (9)
    MAFT 700 - Family Systems I (3)
    MAFT 702 - Family Systems II (3)
    MAFT 710 - Family Therapy I (3)
    MAFT 712 - Family Therapy II (3)
MAFT 714 - Couple and Marital Therapy (3)
    MAFT 722 - Social Ecology (3)
MAFT 740 - Issues and Problems in Systemic and Marriage and Family Therapy Research (3)
MAFT 742 - Qualitative and Ethnographic Research (3)
    MAFT 746 - Dissertation Seminar (3)
MAFT 761 - Family Medicine and Marriage and Family Therapy (3)
    MAFT 799 - Dissertation Research (12)
    MAFT Elective (3)
    Research Elective (3)

Can you help me understand how creative/expressive arts are worked into the curriculum? Also, please share about your experiences.
