    Cool!

For the Public Policy MA, the fees for a part-time international student are £8190 pa. With the program taking 2 years, that's a hair under $20,000 USD. Very good deal. Looks like courses are taught synchronously in the evening.

This is one of my dream schools. But damm, 20k at this point of student debt. I can't do that to myself.

Any grants or scholarships for international students?

Don't think so. Birkbeck has been under discussion quite a lot - and no mention of such in the old threads. I think UK has enough money problems getting their own impecunious and deserving students through. I think you might possibly have a chance if you were an exceptional student from a destitute African country - but not from here.

One consolation. Birkbeck was founded Nov. 11, 1823. It'll be there when you can afford it - I'm sure. It's a good goal. Keep it on your list.

Taking out a loan to study Philosophy wouldn't be a good idea right? Can't eat Philosophy... too bad since Professor Gemes is one of the GOAT instructors in the field. Sadly, I just can't justify the debt approaching my age and not having my finances in order.

Philosophy is an important major with a lot to give the world. At the same time, I can't help but think of this clip from That 70s Show:

There's hope. Figure out what you can do. And do it. I was flat broke at 65. I'm nearly 80 now and I'm in the best financial shape of my life. You can make change happen. I know it.

Thank you for sharing. I'm in the process of reframing my beliefs and being more conscious about how I spend my money.
