Unaccredited Masters in Theology

I am looking to earn a Masters in Theology as affordably as possible. I did the BRS at Nations University, and am looking for a different school for a Masters. I don't have the money for something like Global University or Liberty. TNARS is WAY TOO much writing per course. Any other recommendations? THANKS!

 

This place has been around 30+ years, and I have yet to hear about any time bomb detonations;

It's unclear from your post if you don't have any money or if you just don't want to work too hard. I'd suggest that you look at one or two of the South African schools . . . very inexpensive and perfectly respectable.

 

It's a money thing. I prefer to work hard. I have been in contact with two schools in SA. Thanks.

Sorry to be picky but it seems like a contradiction.

 

For example, one course alone (Eschatology) requires 150 pages of writing. I am not interested in this kind of educational structure. Extreme amounts of writing are not the only way to work hard.

I applied to and was accepted into the Masters program in July. However, I decided to wait for now because I'm working on my MBA from the University of Tennessee. To be honest, I really wanted to begin the grad programs from TBC, but there is absolutely no ROI for a Theology degree. ROI was not the reason for my interest...I just love to study the Bible and related subjects. However, I had to be realistic about my income needs because our family is growing. Employers pay for MBA's, but sadly, not MTh's. In a few years, I do hope to complete the MTh from TBC, and perhaps even the ThD.

This school is located in Cookeville, TN. It is a B&M school and was established about 37 years ago (if memory serves).

In addition to undergraduate, they offer a Masters in Theology and and Doctor of Theology degrees. The tuition is $60 per quarter hour. The total cost for the Master's is $2880 (not including books and perhaps misc fees).

The school is not regionally accredited....but don't let that fool you. The school is selective, very rigorous, and not afraid to expel students. The Master's requires a thesis and it has very strict guidelines.

Agreed. Stay with Nations U if you prefer their model. I have undergraduate and 2 graduate degrees from Liberty and all of that from one school and it has not hurt me. Or do the writing at TNARS.

 

Don't bother with RSA schools..

Sowak777 ... if you don't like writing, don't even bother with a South African school.

Like most European programs, you will do a great deal of writing -- which is how [many would argue] that you learn to think and communicate critically - written form.

Will cost you way more, but you had better stick with a US program that is course-work only... though I can't imagine you won't have to do some writing projects to complete any credible master's program.

 

Haggai12 is 100% right. Master's degrees in SA are largely thesis based.

 

I love writing. I don't have the time to write 100 or 150 pages per course. I do have the time to write a master's thesis.

 

TNARS courses don't require that much writing per masters course do they? I thought it was more like 40 page papers per course.

 

I did that much or more writing plus projects and exams with masters courses at Liberty

 

It varies. 90 is common.

Sowak777 - Congratulations on your pursuits. At some point, stop looking and take the plunge. Next year at this time you don't want to be looking at making this same decision.
