I appreciate all the responses on this thread. Too bad they didn't listen to you Rich. Rich is upset with me because I disputed him on another thread and now he is out to shut down any discussions I start. A very mature response I am sure.

Any of you who dispute the common consensus on this site that unaccredited schools have no legitimacy will soon find yourself labeled as a "troll" as well. It is this boards way of trying to eliminate the opposing viewpoint. We must all march in lockstep after all - one mind, one opinion, one boring site.

For those who agreed that it is not fair to tarnish the educational reputations of those who may have graduated from an unaccredited school that later became accredited - you are right. It is unfair. Yet the ODA has taken that exact position - your degree cannot be used in Oregon if it is unaccredited without an unaccredited disclaimer unless you graduated after the school became accredited.

The ODA knows who you are and they will come knocking at your door if you dare to use your unaccredited degree in our lovely state.

I have several comments. The first is that while I had some disagreement with Rich as to appropriate responses, I had no disagreement with his labeling you as a troll. You are only a troll. I would also point out that no one is marching in lockstep, there is plenty of diversity of opinion. It's just that your sense of this might be skewed because no one agrees with you. As for this site, if you find it boring you needn't return.

There is absolutely zero doubt in my mind that your assessment of Rich's motivation is nothing but hogwash. I seriously doubt that anyone here could be bothered in the least by you disputing what they say. I've already explained to you that you have no credibility here. Someone with close to zero credibility is unable to get this reaction from almost anyone.

If you're interested in my repeating why you have so little credibility, especially if you're interested in improving your credibility, then all you need to do is ask.

You once again make false statements as to what others say and what a common consensus is on this site. I also suspect that you may be doing a similar thing to the ODA. Can you please point out the source on the ODA site that makes the statements of policy that you allege?

Exactly the response I expected, Jack. No further proof is needed as to the level of maturity on this board.

Alan himself mentioned this on this site in another thread. I don't have a link or I would provide one for you.

You add nothing. You contribute nothing. You are a parasite.

Yeah, sure. As if I'm wounded. As if you've proven some point?
A troll is merely annoying. You are worse than that. You do damage. You can not post here without my response.

I'm thrilled you're concerned about the maturity level of this board. Why don't you contribute your best to increase it by leaving!?:D

Was that supposed to be clever? Surely, you can do better than that.

Actually, Rich already has that job. You might ask him if he is willing to take a rest and let you go at it for a while.

To me this is like that old arcade game "Whack-a-mole." If I get tired before my quarter runs out then I know that there's always going to be someone else available to whack the mole. After all, it's so easy to do.

"Mole" or "troll?" You guys need to get your names straight. At least they rhyme.

The total cost of accreditation can be high. It's not that the accrediting agency's fees are all that great(fees plus accreditor team expenses). The big expense at Purdue(re-accreditation process rather than an initial review)) was the self study review that copied how the accreditors would review everything. It took weeks to get ready for ABET and weeks to get ready for RA.

If a school has loosely put together programs, basically sells degrees, and there are no real standards in place, it can then cost a great deal of money to get the programs, paperwork, etc ready to have the accreditors even take a look at it. My guess is that this is the part that kills unaccrediteds. I would assume that this process then kills the "cash cow" for these types of schools. They cannot admit people that they had been letting in. Their float then takes a hit. An example might be SCUPS. They had to drop their doctorates during the time that they were going for DETC. This probably hurt the till. They jumped right back into doctorates as soon as the DETC monkey was off their back. They likely had to make up the money they lost during that period.

    Poor russ

Ah, now, leave russ alone. He's kind of like the neighbor's little, yappy foofoo dog - you ignore him most of the time and laugh when the mule kicks him back over the fence.

Some folks have great amusement value.

I've thought of a few others as well but perhaps I'll hold off on those for a while.
