Interesting UK Rankings by University Compare: https://universitycompare.com/rankings/all
Upgrad and a few others such as Unicaf partner with LJMU, and it's ranked #4!
How it came in so high is a little strange, most other ranking sites have LJMU as 'middle of the pack'.
Anyways, there are a few schools missing in the list, they only go by 5 or so criteria...

Well, Liverpool John Moores U. certainly chooses distinguished people as Chancellors. Helps raise their profile, I think.

Sir Dr. Brian Harold May CBE -- you may know him via his 30+ year career as Guitarist for Queen.
https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/about-us/bicentenary/our-people/brian-may/brian-may-profile#:~:text=Brian May became our fourth,Honorary Fellow of the university.

Incidentally, I think Dr. Brian may hold a record for "longest path to Doctorate." It included a 33-year hiatus, necessitated by his musical career with Queen. He holds a PhD in Astrophysics.

And now, Nisha Katona MBE, here. A very accomplished lady - lawyer, restaurateur, author. https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/about-us/structure/office-of-the-vice-chancellor#:~:text=Nisha Katona MBE became our Chancellor on 1st January 2022.

Kudos, props and applause to both. :)

She has a LOT going for her. 20 years f/t as a Child Protection Barrister, charitable gifts through her business (Mowgli Street Food) , Ambassador for Diversity, -- Congratulations, Nisha. Congratulations LJMU!

The University of Oxford is ranked lower than LJMU?:emoji_nerd: My alma mater is ranked #74th? :emoji_cry:

Perhaps both Universities should try to attract Rock Stars as Chancellors. Might work. Older stars, to add some gravitas.

    Sir Mick Jagger
    (80) was once a London School of Economics student. I'm sure he'd fit in at Imperial College.

Oxford? There's an elderly musician who studied there, not really a rock star but a decent sax player - You've probably heard of Bill Clinton (77).

Too bad he did not graduate because he was not an Oxford material. But he was Epstein material, including Professor Monica Lewinsky. :D

Both accusations are untrue. And the second is pretty nasty - and, I think, objectionable.

    (1) Bill Clinton left Oxford early because he received an offer to study at Yale Law school. That's why he did not receive a degree.
    (2) Nothing Bill Clinton ever did - or was even accused of - involved dealing with a criminal like Epstein, who specialized in procuring minors. How do you even think these things up?

Although Bill Clinton left Oxford before completing his degree, he did later receive an Honorary award from the University. I think any comment about "not being Oxford material" is so unfounded as to be pure nonsense.

"While Clinton was president in 1994, he received an honorary degree and a fellowship from the University of Oxford, specifically for being "a doughty and tireless champion of the cause of world peace", having "a powerful collaborator in his wife", and for winning "general applause for his achievement of resolving the gridlock that prevented an agreed budget." - wiki.

    He's not.

I get it that you want to like Bill Clinton because rah rah Team Blue, but for all his brilliance, the guy is a scumbag, standing in very stark contrast to Carter or Obama.

I don't give a rat's you-know about Team Blue. Or Team Red. And scholastically, Clinton was definitely "Oxford Material." I've seen nothing to contradict that. But "scumbag... in stark contrast to Carter and Obama" - yeah, that's certainly a viable take. There's more than enough evidence.

But below is a link to Clinton's comment about Ms. Giuffre's "Epstein" allegations, from the same source as your quote - Newsweek. And I don't believe anybody's contradicting him lately. And as for Ms Lewinsky she was not procured - by Epstein or anyone else. Neither was she a minor. Her conduct and Mr Clinton's, together, were neither criminal nor criminal-organized, but lapses in judgment, by both. I think they have both, long since, paid big-time for their encounters, and I can't see a legit. reason to drag the odious corpse of Jeffrey Epstein into that event. It's certainly not funny.

I apologize for my inaccuracy. Before I wrote, I Googled for links between Epstein and Clinton to make sure there weren't any. Maybe I used the wrong search terms, as the accusations by Ms. Giuffre never came up. That's on me. Nobody else.

Me neither. He left Oxford on his own terms and they later awarded him an honorary doctorate, which would seem to settle that definitively. Whatever else he may be, he's certainly very highly intelligent.
