I know it's a press release but that's not really such a big deal, is it? https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20190317005007/en/U.S.-Based-Online-Learning-Leader-Udemy-Enters-India
I have not been impressed with what I have seen of Udemy. They offer courses and certifications from people who often are not well qualified.
I looked at Udemy, but I never used it. I didn't feel comfortable with paying for courses offered by random people. I'm sure reviews help with choosing the best courses, but I can usually find a free alternative. I already get Lynda.com for free through school, and my job gives me free access to Skillsoft.
An issue with Udemy is the unauthorized selling of other people’s work https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-34952382
I purchase lot of courses on Udemy when they go on sale for ~$10 and I enjoyed most of them. Most courses have a preview of 1 or more lessons from the course which I use to decide if I like the "Random guy" and his style. depth of knowledge etc.
Udemy is a good platform to learn online but the issue is you have to understand the one who is sharing knowldege on this platform and that is too easy. Every one has a different mindset.
