    Mentorship Training

I am just beginning my mentorship training this week and just wondered where would I find info regarding students assignments?

This information is contained in the course resource page. Here you will find a sample syllabus, faculty notes, discussion questions, grading rubrics. etc.

    mentorship training

    Thanks,Truckie270

I'm getting nervous about the mentorship proficiency exam as I was not aware that I had to pass it with 80%. I thought this portion of the training was done with but apparently not.

Proficiency exam? Hmmm...I didn't have to take one and I finished the training in March 2009 and did my mentorship in April-May 2009. Are you talking about an exam to become a mentor or an exam during/after the mentorship portion of one's training?

    EXAM/pay

Yes...I had to pass exam before I could continue with my mentorship training, I have a friend that presently teaches and never mentioned passing an exam. I guess perhaps the guidelines have changed.

I have heard different things about the salary range, I thought it was $1,235 per course, I have Master's Degree and will be teaching at Axia.

Is this information regarding salary pretty accurate?

Exams must be an Axia thing. I've never hear that for UoPx itself. They really are quite different.

Again, for Axia pay, I haven't a clue but that's right for UoPx with a masters only.

    mentorship training

I begun my classes on September 28, still in the Mentorship Training. My mentor does not to seem that supportive. I dont know if this is part of it of her role as mentor. It seems as though she wants me to fail, I just think that on certain stuff , she could remind of .

I dont know, maybe I'm overreacting.

Here is the pay scale they use from their materials. You'll notice that their pay is poor. There are other online schools that pay much better. I am just done with Blackboard training for another online school and they pay much better. I am in talks with another school that has online masters level graduate courses and they pay $3,300 per 3 credit course.

Describe your compensation plan for active Associate Faculty.

Online faculty members are paid per course. Please refer to the following matrix for examples.

Instructors will be compensated based on their teaching experience with Apollo Group (Axia College, University of Phoenix, and Western International University). All instructors that are new to the university or have taught for less than 3 years will start at Level I faculty. All instructors that have taught for 3 or more consecutive years with Apollo Group will be Level II faculty. If you are new to Apollo Group, you will start as Level I faculty. Faculty pay will be disbursed in 2 separate payments of 66% and 33% respectively. You must post attendance (which is taken automatically from your normal postings to the classroom newsgroups) for the first week to receive the first installment and you must post your grades in order to receive the second installment. The pay schedule will be posted on the University of Phoenix College faculty website. The University of Phoenix reserves the right to change the plan with notice to the faculty. The current compensation plan is as follows:

    Undergraduate Course:
    5 weeks, 3 credits, $950
    After 3 years: $1,125

Undergraduate Course with PhD or JD:
    5 weeks, 3 credits $1,050
    After 3 years: $1,225
    Graduate Course:
    6 weeks, 3 credits, $1,200
    After 3 years: $1,440

Graduate Course with PhD or JD:
    6 weeks, 3 credits, $1,400
    After 3 years: $1,640
    Doctoral Course:
    8 weeks, 3 credits, $2,260

    Weekend and Week-long Residency Courses:
    (Taught in Phoenix, AZ)
    $1,000 per credit hour

I don't know that mentors are supposed to "remind" mentees of things to do. It is somewhat sink-or-swim and the penalties are strong if you don't follow the protocol, which is a bit unnerving.

I went through the training and did not make it. They never reminded me of anything, just "failed" me in the end. An instructor should not be reminder of anything - it is there job to remind the students and in that program you are training to be an instructor.
