Because you decree it so? You have a bad habit of making such decrees and out of whole cloth.

Trump's tax returns were scrutinized in real time and by different levels of government tax agencies.

It's the longest NYT investigative article in recent history. Not "whole cloth".
Also, that awkward moment when Conservatives start arguing that Government is not only reliable, but also works "in real time". Making this argument to a guy who works for a government tax agency, in fact.

I wonder what kind of financials Mueller or others have dug through in so far as Trump's tax info? We will find out I suppose.

The NYT is not a court of law.

I am not conservative. As said by Walter E. Williams, I'm radical.

I said nothing about government being reliable. I merely pointed out that the government people doing any new investigating would be the same, or replacement for, people having formerly investigated the matter.

I'm fairly certain that's not true. There is a Criminal Division of the IRS and they operate quite separately and differently that the division that merely processes the tax returns of people/corporations.

Yes, you're probably right. " Straight to the Criminal Division" is the more likely destination for Trump's returns. In any case, if they weren't going over them with a fine-toothed comb before then they certainly will be now. I've also got the idea that those people in New York who keep track of such things will be interested in collecting any money that Trump might have skipped paying. So it's not just the Feds who are looking at this, it's the New York people too. (and we know what they say about those New York people...)

Those people in New York kept track of things in real time. And those people are likely the biggest crooks of all.

I wonder when Mueller or someone else will get around to Trump's financial records? Boy, if he hasn't gotten around to them already, he will eventually. Should be interesting. Trump will be in good company along with this buddy Manafort.

You seem to imply that civil servants would treat returns from politically-connected, wealthy, highly layered-up, very litigious, individual with MORE scrutiny than the usual workload. Color me dubious. And, again, I work in an equivalent system.
PS: yeah, and "crookedness" of government workers is highly overstated as well.

Tell that to Dean Skelos and Sheldon Silver.

Nothing new there. I remember mom grousing about people having voted for Mayor Jimmy "Beau James" Walker while knowing he was a crook.
